Twin Islands Retreat Lodge — Hotel in Alaska

My family and I recently stayed at Twin Islands Retreat (TIR) from June 19-24, 2024, and we were absolutely astonished by the incredible beauty surrounding the little islands just off the coast of Sitka. The sight of bald eagles nesting in the tall pines, lush foliage, blooming flowers, and moss-covered rocks and branches was truly breathtaking.

At TIR, we felt like part of the family. All meals were provided and eaten at a communal dining table, where Merri, the amazing cook, demonstrated her incredible ability to whip up delicious meals from whatever ingredients were available. We were never hungry, that’s for sure. Each bedroom had its own bathroom, and the two rooms in an adjacent house offered stunning views of the ocean, rocks, and islands. The beds were heavenly soft and luxurious, making it hard to get up in the mornings.

The entire property is well-appointed with thoughtful touches to make our stay easy and comfortable. TIR provided us with kayaks and rain gear for exploring the islands. There was so much to see, and everything was fascinatingly different and interesting. I couldn’t stop taking photos of the starfish! When we wanted to leave the island, Larry was always ready to take us wherever we wanted to go. They have a great workout room with lots of options to burn a few calories and a fun movie room for enjoying some indoor time if the weather wasn’t cooperating. Merri and Larry, along with their two helpers, John and Lisa, took excellent care of us and made us feel so spoiled, never allowing us to do anything except relax. TIR had everything we wanted.

My boyfriend and I spent Christmas at the Twin Islands Retreat, and words cannot fully capture how incredible our experience was! Merri and Larry were AMAZING hosts, From the moment we arrived, they welcomed us with such warmth and kindness…they felt like family.

Merri’s cooking alone is reason enough to visit..Every meal was not just delicious, but made with so much care and attention to detail that we felt completely spoiled!! She puts love into everything she makes…and trust me, you can taste it!!

It was my first time in Sitka, AK., The setting was beyond breathtaking—picture perfect views in every direction..it looked like something you’d see on a Postcard! 🤩 We woke up to eagles soaring past our window, spotted a seal from our room, and even got to watch a boat show from the island…We spent so much time just staring out the windows, saying things like, “This is amazing!” and “How cool is this? …The ocean is right outside our window!!!”

Every part of our stay was absolutely perfect…our room was not only comfortable, but also elegant and beautiful, with every detail thoughtfully put together. If I could give this place 10 out of 5 stars, I would! ✨

Excellent. Merri and Larry are super nice people and top-notch hosts. Their whole facility is comfortable and enjoyable. God made the magnificent scenery, but they chose that stunning location for their retreat. Photos show the beauty but don’t measure up to actually seeing with your eyes. The view from your room is fantastic. We went with our long-time friends and enjoyed the media/exercise room building for movies & enjoyed not exercising. It was fascinating watching the tides fill in and go out. They arranged two fishing trips for us The weather was bad, which was not their fault, but still enjoyed ourselves and caught fish. They loaned us rain gear for the boat which kept us dry. Take your rain jacket because that is the way of life in Sitka. We went into town a couple of times in Larry's Alaska Cat which takes only a few minutes. We smiled with Captain Larry and his back-seat driver, deck hand, Merri. Sitka is nice and people were friendly. We highly recommend Twin Island Retreat and Fishing...
