Geneva Beach Resort — Hotel in Alexandria

The best time (my opinion) for a trip to Alexandria is in May when the resorts are getting ready for the larger families and tend to be quieter. I went here with my mother this past weekend. She loved it and I had a good time. This particular resort is right off a busy road (so can hear traffic). There are also train tracks nearby and the rooms are pretty small for the price especially since there is no room service and you have to clean the room before you leave (vacuum, put sheets off beds, etc). However, this quaint spot is right on the lake. I'd suggest lakeside cabin #5 which is on the corner or a bigger cabin down from there where it may be quieter. Free paddle boats and kayaks to use. Lake with beach and bouncy things to jump off of. We heard loons. The nights were quieter. The owners are top notch - super helpful, welcoming and always available for questions. Free coffee every morning. You will have to also checkout Northwoods Cafe (cash only, odd hours) which is 1 mile walk from the resort, Depot Express Restaurant and if you have a flat tire or any tire issues, check out Shutter's Auto Repair Service, which will come to you, if need be. Excellent owner and very accommodating!!! All in all, a nice first experience in this part...

Great place! Being a smaller resort, the service is awesome! We stayed 3 nights and are extremely satisfied! The Husband and wife that run the resort are so friendly and helpful. Community firepits, has gas and charcoal grills, cabins equipped with almost everything you'd need for even extended stay. Just remember to bring your own towels. It's quiet and layed back, close enough to town if you need anything, yet off by itself enough to be quiet. Lots of Games for kids, and a well equipped beachfront with everything from paddle boats, kyaks and paddle boards. It also has two water Trampolines, and sand toys all waiting for your kids to have a good time. Want to get out on the water and fish, but no boat? No problem! They have several small motorboats he will rent out for a fee, depending on length of time you want to have it out. He also has several dock slips for parking your boat. My Fiance and I will be back. And the prices are great as well....

Geneva Beach Resort is (hands down) a 10 out of 10 recommend! This place was an oasis of bonding and relaxation for my friends and family this past summer. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the many amenities and amazing people staying at the resort. The game room was a fun way to bond with the kids and get some nostalgia at the same time. All the watercraft was fun and available whenever we wanted to put them to use. Cami and Craig are a seriously a couple of the warmest and welcoming folks I’ve met in my entire life. They were fully accommodating; you could tell they were 100% invested in us having a great time, and we did for sure!! We built memories to last a lifetime and had lots of fun during our stay. You won’t regret booking some time to put your toes in the sand at this joyful spot on the edge of a beautiful lake...
