My wife and I car camped from the West Coast to the Gulf at Pensacola Fl. During our Road Trip, we never have a set plan. We travel Day by Day and find a place to camp towards the end of the day, because we never know exactly where we'll be when it's time to call it a day and get some rest. On our return trip West, we decided to find somewhere near Fort Smith Arkansas so that we could get up and explore the History that the town holds. After awhile of searching by phone while we were traveling, my wife found Mulberry River Outdoor Adventures and gave them a call. Ty answered. A rarity among campsites towards the end of the day. He gave us the answers we were searching for, and decided to take the 1 mile trek off of the Interstate to take a look. So glad that we did! Ty has etched a piece of Paradise into the Mulberry River shoreline. My understanding is, he has about 10 or so acres developed into RV sites and Tent/Car camp sites. Some tent sites with electrical and water. This is a passion project for Ty and his family. It is not their full time jobs, but he dedicates full time hours to it. And his dream is to continue establishing more sites on the river with his recent acquisition of 100 more acres. We walked the bank sites looking for the perfect location, and there were plenty. Unfortunately, being from an arid climate, the humidity of the evening had us considering going into Ft. Smith and getting a hotel with Air Conditioning. Then, Ty showed us the Loft. It was perfect for us. And we stayed. Ty has crafted the Loft almost entirely by hand. It is rustic. But it is unbelievably comfortable. The spiral staircase is unique, and a little effort to get bags and things up to the second level, but if you're able bodied, it's a non-issue. The time spent on the river was an absolute blessing after almost 500 miles on the road. My only regret is that we weren't able to spend more time there. Pets are allowed, as long as they are not problems for other campers. (you know if your pet is a problem. Don't make Ty inform you of the obvious) He runs a tight ship, and makes the minimal rules very clear upon your arrival. Most of them are common sense when sharing a quiet space like this one. We will most definitely plan on staying here again next year on our way through. PRO TIP: the camp is located in a dry county, so bring your cold snacks with you before landing. ;) Thank you Ty for allowing us to share your dream with...
Read moreThis past weekend was our first time to experience the Mulberry River and we are so lucky that we found Mulberry River Outdoor Adventures. I could tell from the first phone conversation that Ty was just a cool guy - he had a laid back easy vibe - which definitely comes across in the way that he and his lovely wife, Kristy are operating this beautiful place. They were so accommodating and the BEST hosts. We had plans to float the river all day on Saturday and camp Saturday night. Ty was good with us coming in early Saturday morning and let us go ahead and unload our stuff, set up our tent and get our camping spot ready since we were likely to be late getting in off the river. As it turns out, we were VERY late getting in off the river - we got a late start and did not make it back to camp before sunset. Things actually got pretty scary when we got caught on the river after dark - I flipped my kayak and got dragged in the current for awhile before making it over to a bank. My boyfriend was able to get his kayak over and help recover my boat and belongings. Luckily we had our phones in a drybox and were able to contact Ty and Kristy (who had been trying to contact us to make sure we were okay since we hadn't arrived at campground by dark) We sent Ty our location and he came looking for us. We had landed on the wrong side of the river (opposite the campground) and it was too swift and dangerous to cross over so Ty had to come and pick us up in his side by side. He drove us back to camp where Kristy was waiting to feed us burgers and make sure we were okay. I know it must have been a bit of an ordeal for them to have to come and rescue us late at night, but they never made us feel like they had been inconvenienced - they were just glad we were okay. The next morning, Ty drove us back to our boats and dropped us off. We finished the rest of our trip in half an hour! This will be a trip that we will not forget - for many reasons - and Mulberry River Outdoor Adventures will definitely be our go to spot for floating and camping on the Mulberry River. No need to look anywhere else. Thanks for everything...
Read moreSeasonal and Full Time camping available. It’s the best of both worlds. It’s secluded and close to the river, but located just a few miles from the interstate for work or other commuting purposes. Private Owners constantly improve the site and you can see they invest the money back into the park. You don’t ever feel like your money is going to a greedy corporation that doesn’t care if you come back.
Update: 10/25. Every 1 Star and 5 Star reviews are 100% accurate. The problem with this is you will never know what experience you are going to have.
I’ve personally been around there long enough to know the feelings of both friendliness and being unwelcome. If you arrive with a pocketful of money or have something to offer , it will certainly increase your satisfaction. The owner behaves like a narcissist. One day he will be charming and charismatic but most days he is not pleasant to be around.
This creates unnecessary tension that can be intense that you could cut it with knife. He will confronts anyone including friends, family or guests sometimes in front of other guests . )The owner) on numerous occasions would just open my camper door without knocking first. I tried to make him aware this disturbed my feelings of safety and privacy but he would not internalize the information .
Matthew 7:3-5
In my experience, anyone that stays for long enough doesn’t leave under good circumstances. I was told numerous times about how they don’t know how they could pay their bills or buy groceries. I felt sorry for them and easily purchased at least 500 dollars of groceries a month and cooked most of the food for the past year. The gaslighting continued but I was growing increasingly frustrated when I realized there was always money to purchase expensive equipment, automobiles, campers, etc I was in denial about the situation and let it continue for way too long before I couldn’t take it anymore. It’s a shame that it ended under bad circumstances, but honestly I don’t miss it anymore and...
