I don't normally leave reviews, but I do not hesitate when I have an exceptionally poor or an outstanding experience. My wife and I stayed here with some friends during our trip to Jackson Hole over Labor Day weekend, 2016. Yes, the cabins were lovely, well kept, and neat with comfortable beds and nice amenities. However, their customer service skills need A LOT of improvement.
When we made the reservation, we were told the cabin would accommodate 7 people, but not 8. They offered an additional smaller cabin, which we declined and booked a cheap motel in Alpine for the last couple in our group, (we were all splitting the cost of the cabin between couples and the cost of the additional cabin exceeded the last couple's budget). When we arrived we asked if this couple could spent a few hours there at the cabin with us while we unpacked our gear. Their response was "absolutely not" and informed us that if they remained on the property they would revoke our reservation. Although the beds were comfortable, this experience not only brought some to tears, it nearly ruined our entire weekend. This was by far the worst experience we have ever had while travelling. Next time when we come through here we will stay at the Three Rivers Motel in Alpine. They are about 15 minutes away, less expensive, and much more welcoming to motorcyclists than Rockin' M Ranch.
Update:
While booking another trip in Wyoming this week, I came across this review and noticed that the owner had responded to my review. If it wasn't already obvious, we were a group of 8 adults. We had 5 vehicles, 4 motorcycles and 1 car. If you do stay here, plan on driving on a partially muddy road with lots of...
Read moreSo we are at the emergency room now, after my dad fell off a horse on a trail ride guided by Cassie of Rocking' M Ranch this morning. I understand there are inherent risks associated with this activity, but I just want to say that I was not impressed with how this business family handled the critical situation that arose, and forewarn all other horse-loving tourists! First of all, there should have been more than one guide being responsible for eight novice riders. Every trail ride I have ever been on entails a leader at the front and back to monitor for common concerns like saddles slipping off, horses being unruly, and making sure we all get back to the stable safely. Secondly, the leader Cassie should have immediately gotten off her horse once she saw my dad fell off. She took her sweet time in attending to the critical situation and then made the comment that she had no idea what to do in that critical moment. Thank God I'm a veterinarian and my sister is a MD! We had to take control of the situation and demanded she get ambulatory help. Her father came in a four wheeler, in a timely fashion, but then made the comment to me to "have a great rest of your trail ride," which was in poor taste. I truly do believe Cassie would have had my dad get right back on that unbroken horse. My dad has a collapsed lung, is all we know at the moment, and will not be able to walk my sister...
Read moreRockin M saved my snowmobile trip this year. Jamie was very accommodating with a number of changes of plan and multiple calls requesting information and switching around reservations. I had 4 days to ride. I had rented from another company (Jackson Hole Adventures) for 3 of the days. That was a disaster. First off they charged for usage fees and taxes that are never mentioned anywhere on the website or over the phone. The Jackson Hole Adventure sleds broke down on me back to back days, 2 different sleds, Polaris and Skidoo, ruining 2 of my 4 days and cutting into the third. I cancelled the third day after the first two breakdowns. I had to dicker with the owner to get partially refunded. We agreed I would only pay for the first half day rental. (which broke down) When I looked at my credit card charges I saw that he ended up charging me $250 for that one half day rental.
In summary, Rockin M rented me a top of the line performance sled from this year that was in excellent condition, at the price advertised. I was able to get some good riding in and salvaged my trip. They were very helpful and accommodating and offered options and flexibility in terms of sled pick up/drop off and other things.
Don't risk blowing your valuable vacation time dealing with a dishonest company with unreliable equipment. If you are looking to rent a sled in the Jackson/Alpine area, go...
