My wife and I are pretty shocked and confused as to how this location has a 4.7 star review. So there’s a few things here. For the simple pieces: Mattresses are covered in a protective plastic coating. That’s great to defend against bugs but it makes any movement in the bed super super uncomfortable. Not to mention the bedding was super pilled. We had to move rooms because the first one smelled heavy like mildew and was incredibly musty, and yet our second room smelled like air freshener covering up vomit. We literally had to go to the gas station down the street to buy and then spray our own fabreeze. This is probably the most important issue for me. I have a registered ADA service animal for a medical condition. This establishment unlawfully forces anyone with a medically required ADA service animal to be confined to the first floor. All established hotel chain knows you can not segregate and treat those with a medically required ADA animal differently or like they have a pet with them. We asked for a higher floor due to noise and allergy issues but were denied and confined to the first floor due to my medical needs. The manager Matt was also extremely unempathetic. I offered to show the required medical documentation and this clear violation of the law. He said it was because of allergies despite her being hypoallergenic and thoroughly vetted as such. She literally comes on planes with me. This ignorant rule of theirs has zero logical or knowledge behind it. Extremely disturbing...
Read moreAfter hitting a tire on the interstate, we pulled off the nearest exit to a gas station. Called AAA, Waited a few hours with no luck - so the next thing to do was walk across the street to the Cobblestone Inn & Suites - Altamont to book a night, get some sleep and assess the situation in the AM. The room was clean, AC cool and quiet, no complaints there. I got good use out of the fitness room for a workout. Breakfast was good and fresh which is hard to find these days, staff was friendly and even kind enough to extend my checkout time by an hour! Which let me tell you, goes a LONG way when you break down in a town you dont know in the middle of nowhere Illinois. I want to give a huge shoutout to JoEllen for being that person I needed in the moment, she went above and beyond in multiple ways, and I hope management or the corporate management sees this and gives her something in turn for her friendliness, willingness to help, value of her job and just having open arms to customers in time of need, this is very rare these days no matter the industry. Thanks again, and if you ever find yourself in Altamont Illinois after running over a tire, Cobblestone Inn and suites is the best...
Read moreUnfortunately, my vehicle engine blew up on me as I was headed east towards home (Indianapolis). It was well below freezing outside, so I called 911 so my dog and I could get transported safely off the side of the interstate to the nearest warm shelter while we awaited for my brother to drive 2 hrs to come pick us up. The horrific part of this story is that the gentleman behind the counter refused to offer us a safe, warm shelter for 2 hours while we waited for our ride home. He was extremely angry and threatening. Not very “Christian” like if you ask me. Aren’t we all here to help one another in need? I am a college educated, tax paying citizen, who just had a bad misfortune of vehicle breakdown in freezing cold weather. Very heartbreaking that this is what our country has come to. I will be reporting the story of my mistreatment by this establishment to the local authorities and...
