This hotel for a King suite is a little pricey, yet really an amazing place to stay with or without children.
It’s right by Adventureland, gas stations, food & has a great parking lot, outdoor patio with comfortable seating & fire pit.
The pretty small hotel carts barely hold anything, so we used two. Easy check in, key cards work great! Pool by elevators (with towels), barely any seats, has a lift for handicapped, & was very warm, better if they had a bigger pool, HOT tub for adults, & sauna. I went upstairs while my husband took my stepdaughter swimming, came back 30 minutes later & I said, “that was a small swim!” My husband’s reply was, “It was a small pool.” 🤣
Just past check in to the left is where they have a self serve breakfast buffet from 6-10am. It had a lot to choose from yet they ran out of milk by 9am, asked for a refill and it was out in 5 minutes again (get a milk machine), out of waffle mix, syrup, butter, and attendants don’t seem to care. Would be great if they put in a counter for making your waffle as most people stood right in front of the irons to add butter etc., a microwave for heating better, ice machine & larger cups would be great! Juice machine should be in working order before breakfast & also could have larger plates that won’t drip syrup all over
Room flaws, bathroom lights turn on automatically (not fun at night), sink was broken (had to twist right/up to work), if someone forgets to unlock a door you have to go around (code would better), blinking lights on fire alarms (we covered with wax earplugs), one of the two thermostats broke the 2nd day, couch bed was small, & they texted if we needed anything for the room (blanket/pillow/tp/tissues; never got them.
All in all it’s a good hotel yet for near $250/night for the suite…I’ve stayed at better for around $85 in the Denver CO area. This is Des Moines…not like a top tourist destination, so why that price? I would only stay again if I needed two separate rooms and all the other hotels...
Read moreWe had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. We came to celebrate a little girl’s 8th birthday — just a small gathering to sing happy birthday and open presents. Within minutes, we were told to leave.
The woman at the front desk claimed that multiple people had been coming to the desk asking for our room number, which was completely untrue. Then the manager, Jasmine, called my friend (the guest who booked the room) and told her to leave immediately, even saying that we were a “threat” to her staff — which was absurd. My friend stayed calm and respectful, yet Jasmine still called the police on her. The birthday girl ended up in tears.
Instead of handling the situation professionally, Jasmine hid in the back office while a young employee was sent out to speak for her. When Jasmine finally came out, she had a rude and dismissive attitude.
We were told that “you can’t have parties in your room” and “you can’t have more than six people,” but there were only 10 or so people there, and they were not all spending the night. Also we weren’t loud or disruptive at all. We had just arrived.
This hotel needs serious improvement in customer service and professionalism. I would not recommend staying here — especially if you expect to be treated with kindness, honesty,...
Read moreIf I could give them a 0 I would the lady at the front desk named Jasmine was so rude and disrespectful. My daughter was turning 8 and we had about 10 people there to sing happy birthday and Jasmin called the room and stated having people in the room was not within policy and a THREAT to her staff. I stated the only people who were staying the night were me and my three kids and she told me I was being kicked out and she called the police. She was so rude when I was asking her for a refund and she stated my card was not charged and when I showed her on my bank statement I was charged she stated to despite it with my bank. I have never been kicked out of a hotel for having a get together for a CHILD! Never go to this hotel unless you want to be treated...
