Located on the east side of Amarillo, just off of I40, this first come, first served, old KOA campsite is VERY reasonably priced if you are just passing through, even more so if you want to stay longer. We were concerned that there would not be any spaces left by early evening long enough for our 43' fifth wheel but there were a couple to choose from so we were thrilled. ||There is NO ONE there to greet you. Guests must put their details on the envelope along with cash inside and post it through the letter box. If you need to pay by credit card you are instructed to walk across the street to the convenience store. This is just a short walk which I had to do as I did not have the correct change. ||Pull-thru sites are nice and long. They are only gravel and I can imagine that they are a little muddy when it is wet. Just add extra pads under the sunken "bits". Three sides of the campsite faces fields so actually very peaceful. You can hear trains in the distance along with traffic but nothing really disturbing. ||IMPORTANT to note that there is NO playground for children although there is a swing bench at the bottom facing the field. Spaces were quite wide and definitely long.. ||DO NOT listen to your GPS for directions! Ours, going west, took us right pass the correct exit, making us go to the next one and then come back! You want to get off at EXIT 80! Easy to find from there.||Would we stay here again? Yes, if we were passing through. No, if we were going to be staying longer as our kids really like a playground. For couples this would not be important....
Read moreFree WiFi, Next to I-40 with easy access on and off, Quite, Spots always available, and I-40 Convenient Store Arcoss the Street so you don’t have to run into town for the small stuff, and Custom RV is less than 2 miles away if you need anything to repair your RV.
Everyone is correct, there are no frills, no bathrooms or showers (Doesn’t your RV have a Shower and Toliet? If not, don’t stop here- keep driving.😉) and it is not the prettiest RV Park in town. But it is safe, always a Sheriff parked outside of the park every night. I have stayed here for 2 years and never have had any vandalism or seen any drug activities.
The Park Model Home at the front of the Park is quite awsome and is currently for sale. If you are a trucker that needs a place to park every night or even a few times a week this would be perfect for you. You can park your truck and trailer across the street at the convenience store and get a good night sleep in a your new tiny home at the RV Park!
Management is great and always accommodating. Spots are $315 per month and include everything (water, sewage, electric, and free WiFi). I think the nightly fee is $15 a night if you are...
Read moreAs a newbie to RV parks, I was a little freaked out when I drove up to find nobody staffing the office around 3 pm in late November. Wasn't too sure what to do and how to pay. There were some barely readable instructions on some badly weathered paper, basically saying cash only. Fortunately, I happened to have stopped for lunch and gotten some change, or I wouldn't have had any cash with which to pay. Really, if you need cash only, you need to at least provide a change machine if not a human to help. But after that, my stay was okay. It was hella cold and windy, and the sites were completely unprotected from the weather by any sort of windbreak trees or shelter, so they were heavily rutted and full of ice in those ruts. Fortunately, the hookups were sound and I got immediate electric and was able to crank up my furnace. I didn't even try to hook up to water, and was hoping what I had on board wouldn't freeze. I don't know if they had showers but given the state of the rest of the park, I probably wouldn't have used them anyway. I didn't unhitch so I could leave early the next morning. For the price, you can't expect much and I didn't, and wasn't...
