Read moreI've traveled for business extensively over the years. When I book a room I look at the amenities offered, (Free Morning Breakfast, Room Safe, Housekeeping, etc. When I checked into the Quality Inn in Ames, Iowa there was a notice at the Front Desk that represented that the Room are NOT cleaned and serviced each day; (if you want your room cleaned and the bed made every day please let us know).||I'm paying over $180.00 a Night to to in a Hotel that does NOT service your Room everyday? That's like saying; Give us your Money and we'll do whatever we want for you.||Long Story short;||1) Room was NOT Serviced everyday, (even though I had requested daily service at time of check-in)||2) The Telephones in the Hotel Room are useless, as you cannot make ANY Calls outside of the Hotel.||3) The Room Safe never worked, even though we had reported it at time of Check-In.||4) The Free Breakfast, (advertised from 6am-9am daily) was gone at 7am on multiple days. When you're working you have NO TIME to sit around and wait an hour for someone to decide if and when they're going to make another session of Breakfast for your Clients).||5) The free Coffee was empty at 6:45am several times during my Stay.||6) When they failed to Service my Room, on multiple Days, they also failed to remove dirty Towels and leave fresh towels. Imagine ending your workday at 11pm and wanting to take a Shower and go to Bed. Then you realize that there are NO FRESH TOWELS in your Room.||7) The Front Desk Staff did their best to report these issues and the Owner/Lead Manager just ignored resolving all these issues.||8) But Quality Inn had no problem collecting 8 Days @ over @170.00/night. No one offered to adjust my charges for the severe lack of services.||Caveat Emptor: If you're ever in AMES IOWA STAY AWAY from the QUALITY INN on 13th Street just east o...
This hotel is a sham! deserves no stars but will give one so people know. Booked a room for 2 nights through expedia. Tried to cancel one nt. a few days ahead. Said i needed to speak to manager. So I called to speak to manager and they were supposedly gone for the day. Told me to call next day, which was the day we were to arrive. Called next morning to speak to manager and again they were unavailable. Spoke to front desk clerk and told her that we would like to cancel our room for the following nt. She tells me we don't have a room for the following nt. great! Things were resolved. So I thought or was lead to believe. We arrived at hotel and front desk clerk says oh I'm sorry I made a mistake. In the mean time we had booked a room in a different town for the next night. ( Which now we couldn't cancel either) We checked in thinking the rooms would be habitable. The rooms smelled like lighter fluid. I and my party all have raspatory issues to strong smells. Had we stayed in that room we would had been admitted to hospital for raspatory issues. Asked to moved to another room and it also had the odor. Told them we were unable to stay at there establishment due to inhabitable conditions. No refund! I don't know about you but when I book a room I expect it to be in habitable conditions. Especially at $300 a night. There were several others that were complaining about the smell and cleanliness. Oh and also we were told that it was a 30 day cancellation. I have never heard of such a thing in my life!!
Word to the wise, ck your room before you ck...
Read moreLet's set some expectations here. This is not a Hilton or a Marriott, but you are also not paying for that level of experience either.
Common areas- this hotel could use an update or refresh, it's definitely throwing 70/80s vibe. There is an indoor courtyard area with vending machines and pool, many hotel rooms overlook this courtyard. Breakfast is by the courtyard and there are many options, I think it runs 7-9, but it was open before and after breakfast hours for coffee access. The gym is efficient with several usual gym machines, you can easily do a basic workout. They use a weird cleaner which makes the hallways have a weird smell, they should change to a more acceptable smelling cleaner like fabuloso. The cleanliness of the common areas in the hotel was lacking, they need to step that part up.
Parking is surface level and free, there are a ton of spots.
Rooms-my room was on the third floor overlooking interior courtyard. It had the basic motel type ac that worked well but was loud. The room was dated but both the room and linens were clean. I heard some noises from the courtyard but not crazy loud and I heard nothing from the hallway. The shampoo and conditioner were TINY and generic, so if you care about that bring your own. If you run out you can always ask the front desk and they have extra little bottles.
Staff were super friendly and helpful.
Overall it was an ok stay for the price, it's not a resort, but it's an ok place to crash if you are driving through or working...
