My girlfriend and I visited Fidalgo Bay RV Resort on 3/26/2018 with our two small service dogs without issue. We also stayed there again on 3/30 - 4/1 with the same two small service dogs and two children. This visit was destroyed by Scott who berated my girlfriend and became confrontational about the two small service dogs stating that Fidgalgo Bay RV Resort does not have to adhere to the ADA regulations and that they make their own regulations. He also accused us of harassing his desk staff which we had only inquired about the cost of staying another night (prior to this incident). Scott completely embarrassed my family and made the children fearful of the situation and acted without any regard for our character or the presence of children. Scott stood at the front of our cabin for everyone to witness his behavior, Scott was enraged to the point he was visibly shaking. I have never been treated in such a manner from someone in the hospitality industry. Scott gave us the ultimatum "Either abide by MY rules or get out and leave my staff alone!" I will never visit this place while under his supervision. Scott should be removed and prosecuted for violating ADA guidelines as well as intimidating my girlfriend and children.
I would also add the following to your response which you did not follow the guidelines:
Q7. What questions can a covered entity's employees ask to determine if a dog is a service animal? A. In situations where it is not obvious that the dog is a service animal, staff may ask only two specific questions: (1) is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? and (2) what work or task has the dog been trained to perform? Staff are not allowed to request any documentation for the dog, require that the dog demonstrate its task, or inquire about the nature of the person's disability.
Q11. Can hotels assign designated rooms for guests with service animals, out of consideration for other guests? A. No. A guest with a disability who uses a service animal must be provided the same opportunity to reserve any available room at the hotel as other guests without disabilities. They may not be restricted to "pet-friendly" rooms.
Q12. Can hotels charge a cleaning fee for guests who have service animals? No. Hotels are not permitted to charge guests for cleaning the hair or dander shed by a service animal. However, if a guest's service animal causes damages to a guest room, a hotel is permitted to charge the same fee for damages as charged to other guests.
CERTIFICATION AND REGISTRATION Q17. Does the ADA require that service animals be certified as service animals? A. No. Covered entities may not require documentation, such as proof that the animal has been certified, trained, or licensed as a service animal, as a condition for entry.
Which you requested all of the above. Your advise is misguided as the guidelines state the following:
Q30. What happens if a person thinks a covered entity's staff has discriminated against him or her? A. Individuals who believe that they have been illegally denied access or service because they use service animals may file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice. Individuals also have the right to file a private lawsuit in Federal court charging the entity with discrimination...
Read more5 star resort prices charged for a non-gated gravel covered campground with basic amenities. Many of the sites are dirty, unkempt, and definitely lived in. Spotty WIFI, drinking water is sometimes brown, loud & low jets constantly flying over, bird poop droppings everywhere, (watch out dog owners for Giardia) and the constant roar of traffic noise echoing from Highway 20 is stifling. Reports of theft as well. Since this place is non-gated and on a hiking trail, some of the people cutting through the campground are questionable and obviously transient. Watch your belongings! When I reported the brown drinking water to the assistant manager, he dismissed me and wouldn't even stop to talk as if he was busy. As he walked away, I was told to run the water. I told him that I had already been running the water for an hour and it's brown. "Run it more" he replied. I went through hundreds of dollars in water filters while living there. To give them a little credit, after asking, (not even offered) they did finally give me $53 back for my last filter purchase, but it wasn't even a drop in the bucket to justify the cost of what I paid in filters for the 8 months as a resident there. Speeding is also not enforced. Watch your kids! I had an incident with a huge motorhome speeding and defacing a section of my RV site. It was very upsetting and I expressed that to the office how triggering it was having to see the constant disregard of the speed limit while I'm following the rules. I was dismissed and told I had no rights to the property that I was paying rent for, while the entire time management is defending the person whom was speeding. That was the moment I decided to leave. The roads are loud gravel that flood when it rains. One site has an RV fading away because someone died and management has left it with weeds over growing on the site. Managements solution to this.... put out orange cones in front of the deceased person's RV. Having to look out my window every day since December (2023) at this deceased persons RV was so depressing. I had no choice because it was in my windows viewpoint everyday reminding of this unfortunate event. There are also many moldy unwashed RV's on property that are more than 10 years old, expired tags, and in disrepair. I've been to many resorts in my travels and this location is not worthy of that name. With the prices this place charges, at the bare minimum there should be speed bumps, a heated pool, fenced dog park, paved roads, paved level RV sites, clean water, and good working WIFI. I really try not to write many reviews this depressing, but these concerns are valid and need to be shared. UPDATE: Funny how after I posted this honest review, the 5 star reviews all of a sudden started pouring in on this place. Red...
Read moreBased upon favorable google reviews & nice aerial pictures, we booked for 12 days. The staff in the office were great. The actual waterfront beach was nice, albeit not very wide. The sites that are on the 'East' lot were nice (this is where all the pictures of Motorhomes looking over the water are taken). They seem to be well maintained with lawns regularly mowed. The view is not just of the ocean, but of one of the largest oil refineries on the West Coast. Unfortunately, the much larger lot is the 'West' lot, where we were booked into. In the 11 days we stayed, there was ZERO maintenance of any kind in our West lot. The lots are TINY and not maintained. The grassed area between sites was barely wide enough for the picnic table. This combined with the fact that the majority of the sites in the West lot are occupied by 'long term rentals' in which it is obvious that the renters are responsible for maintaining their site (or not) makes this RV 'resort' like a tale of two completely different outlooks & experiences. The only sites on the West lot that are worthy of rental face the adjacent park or the trail. The rest are really not up to par. Many of the sites are occupied with RV' s that look like they haven't been cleaned in the last 10 years, and / or the long term renter with only a few exceptions don't take pride in their lot to maintain it. I've enclosed a picture of the 'view' from our RV door to the neighbor, a long term rental. Pretty sad that these people aren't given any standards that they have to maintain. Not to mention some of the worst wifi we have ever encountered And as an added bonus, they do not use standard screw in sewer fittings & don'tseal properly. Ask me how I know. We were sitting outside, the neighbor came around the back of his RV, saw us & still proceeded to dump his black tank. The stench was so bad we had to go inside quickly. So, do yourself a favor- be skeptical of RV 'resorts' with zero pictures of their RV sites on their website, and NEVER stay in the West / larger lot, unless you are facing the park. We left early, as the guy in the site right beside us (long term) left for work at 6am everyday, and had an exhuast pipe that was at least 9 inches in diameter on his...
