If we had not been desperate for a room at 11pm we never would have stayed here.
The sewage smell as we walked into the lobby was disgusting. It was like there was an open sewer line.
We were forced to rent 2 rooms since they do not offer roll away beds on the first floor, and both my mother and veteran brother are unable to climb stairs, as they are both disabled.
Both of the rooms had absolutely horrid mold/mildew smell. All the top blankets in both rooms smelled like they haven't been washed since last season. The sheets and towels all smelled like they had been left to sit in the washer for too long.
One room had a broken light/fan in the bathroom. There was no cover on the light and the fan sounded like a helicopter. There was a dirty towel left hanging on the bathroom door. The curtains were dusty, there were boogers stuck to the dust ruffle on one of the beds.
I was so grossed out by what was visible I made the mistake of looking under the edge of the dust ruffle and under the bed, there is no way the beds have been cleaned under in the past 2 years. There was dog food or dried out meat or something and dried ramen noodles on the floor at the edges of the bed, tons of hair and lint packed around the edges of the walls and beds.
The breakfast area was nasty too. The floors were sticky all the way through, old batter had been left in the dispenser and smelled putrid. The coffee tasted like stale dirt. My brother even stated that it was the worst coffee he's ever had stateside.
The employee or owner, whoever he was was walking around in dirty sweat pants and bare foot, and he burned incense and walked it from the back lobby room through a common area to take it outside. Not a great thing for a family of asthmatics. Thankfully when he did that we were already on our way out.
The only positive about our stay is that I'm pretty sure there...
Read moreWe stayed for 2 nights. It's only one of two hotels in the town. Our truck had to go to a local diesel repair shop so choices were limited. This hotel was near food and walmart so without a vehicle it seemed like the best choice. ||Family owned it appears. They were very nice at check in. Explained how they had only had the hotel for a week so I tried to overlook its shabby appearance. ||Room smelled odd. Recently shampooed carpet and dog pee mixed with bug spray. Opening the window helped. That night my husband started being bit by something but we did not see anything upon inspection of rooms and bed that would account for the welts that were developing all over him. The next night we found it. One large bed bug on my pillow. Where there is one there's a hundred, right? ||Went to Walmart, bought bed bug spray and sprayed EVERYTHING. Needless to say we didnt sleep much wondering what was crawling on us as we slept. ||We moved to Cedar Rapids to a hotel there as our parts are not in so stuck for the weekend.||Now, I really wanted to give these seemingly nice people the benefit of the doubt having recently taken over this hotel....I told the front desk we were leaving and rm 119 had bed bugs, my husband has been torn up by them. His response was, get this! "Yeah we know, we are trying to take care of the problem" 😲 Seriously! They knew the rooms were infested and still rented it out! No, no, no! Now all I can do is hope we haven't brought any with us. ||I included pictures of the bites.||Avoid this place at all costs! I would have rather rented a car and slept in that then to deal with what we had to deal with.||I'll be creeped out for some...
Read moreI am not usually an uppity type person. I realize sometimes simple things can be the best. With that being said, I accidentally found the place. It was getting dark and I did not want to travel through the corn fields with so many deer with a toddler in the car. The front desk man was nice. And he quickly got me in a room. The room had toilet paper still floating in the toilet when I opened the door. The roof tiles were about to fall into the tub. I checked the bed and the sheets. I only found clean sheets and no trace of bed bugs. The carpet was brand new looking and the fridge looked clean. I did love the photos of hay fields and sunflowers above the bed, as they were huge and really cool. The breakfast was easy prepackaged stuff or waffles. Would I want to spend a hundred a night in this place again?
NO WAY!!
I wish I had read the reviews ahead of time and gone down the street to the nicer motel. But the bed was clean, the toilet worked, and I was able to drink coffee while eating a muffin. I did NOT use the shower. And left the next day!
The worst place I've set foot in??
NOPE!!
Would I want to spend that type of cash for it...
