The owner Lyn is very pleasant in talking with her. We love heading to Vermont for the fall activities and will be putting our Camper back there for the 2015 Season as a seasonal. The campground is well kept and is nearly the only one without heavy pine trees within the campground. We did a little looking around in the surrounding areas only to find heavy sappy pine needles on all the trailers at the other places. You will not find that here. The land is mostly hardwood so you will get leaves but that is about it.
Just note, The Wifi is only at the office and surrounding the building. There is absolutely no service for Cell or television and the cable is not working as of yet. There is talk of an upgrade coming soon but for now the only means is Dish. Additionally the water pressure is a bit low but many seasonals (Including us) have said they fill their fresh water tank and use it to make up for the low pressure.
We purchased a 34' Lacrosse Luxury Lite and left it on the mountain top seasonal side past the pond. No sap, Alot of fun, and we plan on joining the VASA trail system in 2015 for our Polaris ATVs.
It would be a 5 star if the water pressure and cable TV met standards since we truly love the area and the campground. We are looking forward to our 2015 seasonal stay and would recommend Horseshoe acres for anyone who enjoys exploring the fall...
Read moreWarning: NOT BIG RIG FRIENDLY! At least at the upper sites (we were in site C). When we arrived, we were asked if we wanted to be escorted to our site. The printed map was unreadable, and we didn't know what to expect (usually hosts show us ahead of time), so we appreciated any assistant. We weren't told anything beforehand, and simply told to follow the golf cart. Before we knew it we were being led up a super steep hill to top sites. Beautiful! Stunning trees, lovely grass. Nice area. But we knew the moment we started going up the hill we wouldn't be getting down unscathed. Our 42 foot fifth wheel hit the road going up it, then severely druuuuug down the hill going down it extremely slowly. We have a drop frame, so it didn't make matters any better. But we could tell regular height long fifth wheels would hit and scrape as well. Severe damage to our rig. If we knew ahead of time, we would have taken a different site, even one with less amenities. I gave it 3 stars because it's a beautiful campground. But we didn't feel particularly welcomed, informed, and are obviously furious about the...
Read moreIt's been three months since we were here and I often think about this place. The owners/family made us feel welcome when we were homesick and exhausted from traveling for the past few months. The activities that their full-timers host on the weekends are full of hilarity! The campground is pretty well maintained. The internet is the best internet experience that I've had at any campground. They loaned me a drill when mine decided to die. They had no issues with me receiving packages which was incredible because I needed to get caught up on regular life supplies and there were a lot of packages! We stayed here a month and toured the whole state. They gave me directions to the best sunset (MT Ascutney fyi). Told me the best place to buy groceries and get an oil change. Vermont is one of my favorite states now and most of it is due to this campground. If you need a peaceful place to stay you should choose this one! I'll always remember this place and maybe one day I'll get to come back. From the mom of five from Louisiana-thanks...
