This is our first season at Buck Lake Ranch as seasonal campers. Some of our first impressions were horrible. All we kept thinking was, this is a public campgroundâŚthese people are horrible. Now that we have been here almost a whole season our opinions have changed a bit. We will say there does need to be someone to contact at all times at the campground and there is not, this is not helpful(a camp host would be an easy solution). I mean we had to run around and ask several times about wood, who goes camping w/o a fire. There is a nice little beach that is at times, covered in goose droppings. Which we found to be interesting, because we were told no dogs on beach, owners donât clean up after them. (Well, we can guarantee you, that our campsite is cleaner than the beach and we have 4dogs). The campground its self is clean and quiet. The lake is clean and has some good fishing. If you are looking for a weekend of activities this is not the place to come. If you are looking for a little get away and not be bothered, this would be the place to come. This is why itâs a perfect place for hubby and I. We gave up camping during Covid and after because it was like moving to the city for the weekend and we found ourselves to be stressed out by the end of the weekend. We donât feel that way here, at Buck Lake Ranch.
Some of the permanent not seasonal campers need to clean up around their area and be more respectful to the campers that come and go. The first month hubby and I were here we got the rudest looks, almost ran over by seasonal/permanent campers while driving their cars. This is not the way you attract other campers. Itâs a golf cart friendly campground, that means you want outsiders to come and visit and you my friends, are not very welcoming. The organization of the campground seems a bit chaotic at times especially during events.
Again, this is our opinion being an outsider coming in.
We do plan to stay for another season & have built some good relationships w some of the seasonal campers. If you are looking for a place to be out in nature, this is the place. There are some pretty neat trails & some really cool primitive sites in the woods. The live music is a plus. There are canoes, a row & paddle boats for fishing. Buck Lake, is truly a little hidden gem, that we are glad to be part of, even with all its little...
Read moreThis was the worst campground experience my family ever experienced. We arrived on a Friday in July and found our reserved campsite was already ready out as a seasonal option and provided a new site in a shaded area. What the management didnât share was they had a history of trees falling due to internal rotting. Within 3 hours of setting up our 31â trailer on site part of a tree about 30 feet in the air and as round as a telephone pole came crashing down on our F-150 and Puma Trailer. The Great News âwe escaped without injury but sustained damages to both units in excess of $8,000.
The campground staff quickly helped to remove the trees off our truck and camper which after filing a police report for damages took 5 hours. They assured us multiple times that they carried insurance for these types of accidentsâadmitted full liability, and agreed to cover all damages providing us with copies of their insurance policy.
In short their insurance carrier refused to pay for any damages during the repair process and we had to engage our personal insurance carrier to cover the damages. Their claim was that the trees looked normal so how would they knowâbut several of their seasonal guests shared this was not the first time this has happened. I was also told that when I checked in and signed their rental agreement we absolved them from any personal liability and Buck Lake Ranch would provid us a copy of the agreement. I shared we never signed or received an agreement due to their management being in such a hurry to move us to another site and forgetting to obtain a signatureâno agreement exists
I will never recommend this campground to anyone!!! they canât be trusted to stand behind their word and look out for the safety of...
Read moreStayed at buck lake ranch rv park for 3 months. I only stayed because I made reservations before seeing it. In a little over a year I have stayed in campgrounds in 8 states and never found one that made the never go back list till now. This place is terrible. Very bad sewage smell everywhere so bad we got to calling the lake turf lake. The water from the hydrants is so rusty and filled with heavy metals it ruined a new washing machine. Whatever you do dont drink it. They think of themselves as an event center. That's ok but what about the people camping. Came back one night to a gate placed across a county road and a woman demanding $30 a person to get back to my camper. After some worde we got in but what about our guests? They wanted them to pay. We had to cancel plans with friends because we were so embarrassed about them having to pay to come see us. The events are such a joke. Not a family friendly place. Just search for mud junkies at buck lake and you will see how bad it was. Embarrassing with grand kids visiting and mostly nude or completely nude people running around. The management is terrible. The owner does not have a clus to what is going on and the woman the works in the office seems nice enough until you disagree with her. Very nasty attitude and no customer service skills at all. Every campsite in place is on side of a hill. Nothing level anywhere. Gravel roads with excessive golf cart traffic making it impossible to keep dust out of your camper. With everything we left several days early just to get away. There are several very nice campgrounds in the area this is not one of them. I would never recommend anyone...
