We loved this campground for our 4 night trip. They were very large freshly graveled level pull through sites. Plenty of room to park your tow vehicle. The electric post was super nice and even had a light on it to light up that area when you’re setting up or dumping in the dark. The grassy area between campers was also really large allowing you to enjoy your firepit without being right on top of your neighbors or burning a whole in your own awning. Also we really enjoyed looking out over the large green grass heading up to the top camping area. The campground has many new amenities. Brand new really cute rustic cabins, two new single use bathrooms and attached laundry room with 2 washers and 2 dryers. We use a hotspot when we travel so we can get on conferences calls and had great reception during our stay. They also had just gotten their brand new pool installed, so within a week or two when they get the water ready it will be perfect timing for those hot summer days.
The service was great. They have a host escort you to your site and points out the sewer, electric, and water hookups, but then leaves to allow you to setup without someone sitting there watching your every move. The camp store was very inviting with a little seating area where they serve coffee and donuts on the weekends. They also had live music and a Whiskey Wagon on-site Saturday evening for the campers to enjoy. It was a really fun chill evening.
The location was right off Hwy 69 making for easy access to the campground. They have a gate code, so that campers can enter easily, but it also doesn’t allow just everyone access to enter. It would be really convenient for a quick overnight if you were just traveling through. There is a little road noise, but it just became white noise very quickly. The campground was also conveniently located to Pokegan State Park where we went hiking one day. There are 5 connected lakes in the area, that had it been warmer would have been fun to checkout. It’s only an hour from The RV Hall of Fame and two hours from the Airstream Factory tour which we went to and wish we had had more time to do their little museum that was there to enjoy before or after the tour. We will definitely be going back to this great campground. Thank you...
Read morePlace looks great on their website… but - I tried booking a couple sites, for two separate campers (one 37’ total length, and one 30’ total length). We were hoping to reserve a couple specific sites with full hookups that showed ‘available’ online, but could not figure out how to do that via their website (Reserve multiple/specific sites). They have a phone number with a “Text Us” note. We were out of town until Sunday night, and I work long hours, and not able to make personal calls easily during the day, so I texted the number after hours, looking for help in reserving the sites for a 3 night weekend in late August (Next month). I noted that I’m very sorry to text after hours, and it’s fine to wait until the following day to respond with the help I need, but hoped to get the lots we wanted secured. They didn’t bother to respond at all. The following day, I got away from work for a minute, and tried calling the number, but it was around 9:30am, and unfortunately they were still closed (didn’t realize they were still closed until I tried calling the number). I couldn’t get away to try calling again, so I texted again when I got home, and basically said ‘Thanks but since I didn’t receive a reply from you, I’m guessing that trying to reserve the available sites was a no go, so we’ll look at different campgrounds.’ Again, no response. Wish it could have worked out, but I’m not impressed with my ‘first impression’. The website showed the lots we wanted were available, but even if they weren’t, a response of some sort would have been the proper and polite thing to do, rather than leave a potential customer hanging, risking losing sites at other campgrounds. I’ve been camping since I was a kid… well over 50 years, and I know a red flag when I see one. They can boast on their website, but actions speak volumes. There’s no reason to ignore a genuine interest and inquiry. Might be a great campground, but if you need assistance with anything, you may not get anyone to help, or even...
Read moreFriendliest Campground I’ve ever stayed with! This is my 3rd stay and I just booked for 3 more!! And I’m thinking about their monthly stay, for next year. I’m a solo, female camper and I felt totally safe there. All the campers were very friendly! The atmosphere was quiet and gentle, yet lots of things to do! There are a lot of things to see, in and around Angola IN. The new owners, Angee and Kevin, are making great improvements to this pre-owned campground. It’s beautiful! Last Fall Kevin put up 5 new rental cabins that are nestled around a nice size pond, so bring your fishing pole! The cabins can come furnished, if you choose their packaged option. They are putting in a new pool which will be open, soon! . The bathrooms are unbelievably clean! Every weekend, there is some kind of entertainment. This weekend they had Booze and Brush for those over 21 yrs old. A local art instructor taught everyone how to paint their own Picasso! Saturday they had a corn hole tournament, chair yoga which you can purchase 6 sessions of yoga and there was a free to all campers concert with Jim Weber and Erica Lee, local favorites who sang all our favorite Motown, Blues and Classic hits from all age groups. We all sang right along! They were terrific!! And The 6 on James brought their Whiskey Wagon. On Saturday, campers can order Tom’s donuts for Sunday morning. I’ll just say that I can’t wait to go back on June 9th! Wait! I forgot to say that they also have a Camp store with beautiful must haves and a Pickle Ball court, Volleyball/Badminton Court, GaGa Pit, Tetherball, Dog Park, Horseshoes, Fishing pond (BYO pole) Walking trails in the woods, and soon..a new pool! There is so much, I had to look them up! I highly recommend Happy Acres! Come tired and...
