I will never ever return to this camp ground again in my life!

It all started right when we had first arrived we noticed the place we normally camp at the road was closed (which happens sometimes) so we parked by the trail to unload all of our things to we can bring it in the camp area. The wanna be mall cops or the campground security asked us repeatly to move the car, while my hands are full of stuff carrying it to the area we were trying to set up. Mind you there we were by no means in anyone's way. So we hurried as fast as we could to get everything out and finally parked the car. At this point I'm mildly annoyed but whatever I'm camping so I crack a beer and enjoy a game of horse shoes. After about an hour or two I went to sleep so I could get a good jump on the next day. 3 hours later I am awoken by the sheriff department yelling at me to get out of my tent and pack my things because I'm trespassing!!! I was so confused but apperently some people got into an altercation with the security guys and now everyone had to leave. Never asked me any questions or tried to see what the situation was just kicked us all out. Here's the kicker most of them had been drinking all day! When the officer was approached with the information and that many of the people driving were highly intoxicated he stated "I don't care if you get a dui pack up now" I was completely shocked and outraged at this behavior. Luckily I'd been asleep on only had a couple beers and was able to drive a couple people home. Needless to say. If you're going camping to have fun listen to music and hang out with friends this is not the place. If you want to sit in your tent and read a book by all means this place has got your name. Wish I could...

Awesome campsites and opportunity to be right on the water when camping and more spread out than at the Apache campgrounds.

I usually prefer a more serene and quiet camping experience and this place is not always that- expect boats and jet skies and quads and lots of families and music etc... but If you’re lucky enough to find a semi private spot on the water or hidden within the trees way on the outskirts, you’ll be in heaven. The water helps to block out the sounds (not that it’s extremely loud or annoying but you can expect there to be others all around).

Pros: camping on the water, swimming, spectacular sunsets and views

Cons: can be loud, rowdy people, music from other campsites

Weather in Sept-Oct: it was perfectly sunny and gorgeous out when I arrived. Water temp was so enjoyable for swimming. Winds picked up on the late afternoon. Night was perfect temps and warm breeze that cooled later in the night. Then throughout the night light showers. Woke up to pouring rain with wind, cold weather and clouds. As the day went on it cleared again but much...

Great campground. We absolutely loved it! It was prestine. Outstanding camp hosts. They were extremely helpful and pleasant. We had a lakefront site with breathtaking views. The site was quite spacious...more than we needed. Met some wonderful fellow campers. We're definitely going to camp there, again...many times, good Lord willing. The 5 plus mile drive to the campground on the Apache Trail from Roosevelt Dam was a bit treacherous, but well worth the experience. Just be careful. It is difficult to not stare at the gorgeous scenery while trying to navigate a very narrow dirt road with hairpin turns, and the inability in spots to see oncoming cars. The only drawback was trying to fish from the shore, as there are many rocks. Top waters are okay as they won't get hung up. Throwing anything else is difficult unless you fish from the walkway at the boat ramp, or have a yak. It's a great place for star gazing if you have a telescope. The night sky is awesome...no ambient light (if you stay far enough away from the lighted latrine buildings) to obstruct...

We usually camp at the rim but decided to try Burnt Corral since it's still cool down in the scrub. The camp sites are close together and if you are at the lake sites there is no vegetation to break the view to your neighbor. Due to the sites being close together you can hear every single thing your neighbors are saying. A group arrived at around 4 am and were carrying on without regard for anyone else. Another group down by the lake was blaring their music so loud you couldn't have a conversation. I felt sorry for their neighbors as we could hear the music back up at our site which was more in the scrub, not on the lake. The ammonia smell of the bathrooms will burn your eyes. Overall, not really impressed. Proximity to the lake was nice but the crowd this place attracts and the closeness of the sites was a miss for us. We will be looking elsewhere for our spring/fall camping.

Beautiful location, really can't beat the views along the water. We were fortunate to grab a tent spot right along the river. Pay at the kiosk at the entrance and it's as easy as that. It was not crowded at all this past weekend, even the amount of river traffic was low allowing for some great paddle boarding! There are no services or hookups at this campground, but there are compost bathrooms, a nice looking boat launch, and several beach swimming areas. Fishing looks to be amazing in this spot. Be aware there are skunks along the river edge! But it's camping wildlife is plenty. 🦨
