Beautiful, well-maintained campground with three loops. The West loop is full hook up and the sites are close with few trees. The East loop is electric only with public water spigots available. That’s where we stayed and what is pictured. There is a great playground and very nice bath house in the center of the loop. The spaces are massive - you might be able to see part of a neighbor’s rig but barely if at all. Very densely forested. Sites are flat and it’s dark at night. ;-) The North loop is without any electric. It looks like the spaces are not close together and I think they are probably in a forest, too.
You are basically in a huge urban park. You’ll hear air traffic every once in awhile but otherwise quiet. You’re within a mile or two of all the civilization you’d ever want and then some.
Oh and the people who work here are extremely friendly. Best of all, pets are welcome here unlike at St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park (and one other in the area apparently) who do not allow any pets, not even cats who stay in the RV! If animals are seen through the window you are asked to leave. So it was great to be able to bring our cats here and know all was well. Good luck hiding a cat! One of ours likes to be carried around in a cat backpack so we could do that here, too. Lots of hiking trails.
We are definitely going to return. There is a lot of invasive tree of heaven and it looks like it’s been chopped down in places which only makes it come back worse. Gotta poison that stuff or dig it up. I hope that it can be eliminated because the park has so many beautiful flowers and...
Read moreThis is a well maintained County park with over 90 sites, and enough variety to accommodate what ever your camping/ RV needs are. They have a section with electrical hookups for tents and tent trailers and lots of room between sites. They also have full hookup sites for motorhomes and trailers some are pull through. The gravel sites are mostly level, and some sites are long enough to accommodate the largest RVs. In the main section (north loop) the sites are close together - not quite on top of one another, but close. They offer wifi, but predictably it is spotty when it is good, and nonexistent when it is bad. The hookups are convenient, and modern. They have a small laundry behind the office. They seem to fill up on the weekends mostly with city folks here with family. You are allowed to stay up to 2 weeks at a time - the only "seasonal" campers are the work campers that are here for the summer. When they open up reservations in the spring be sure to secure a spot early if you intend to stay more than a night or two.||Because this is a county park, they seem to have the resources to keep up with the maintenance, as there was always some project being worked on during our stay. When visiting the twin cities, this is a good base - close to shopping and major highways. It is also close to this...
Read moreThe grounds are great. Cool place to camp, but the reviews about the camp Nazis are pretty accurate. I usually don't mind but coming in late from another site and another County where the mosquitoes were horrendous late at midnight already paid for the site and couldn't get my camp set up daughter sleeping in the car. We just fell asleep and we got a park ranger or whatever driving up and shining a spotlight on us and then backing up and parking and sitting there. So I had to get up wake up, walk down and say what's the problem said that I didn't have a tag on my post or whatever. That's not my problem. I'm not the one that does that. I don't have tags so thanks for waking us up and making us feel uncomfortable right off the bat. Then the next day we got these guys in their little Gators driving around and they they slow down to take a peek and look into our camp which there's nothing wrong with our camp at all. There's nothing wrong with us so it's kind of annoying and they're pretty nosy. The other campers have respect. I don't glare into your campsite and stare as they go by but the staff can't resist. I paid for my site. I abide by the rules and I expect to be not messed with or spotlighted in the middle...
