My fiancé and I spent Valentine's weekend here and we were totally blown away by the beauty of this place! It's tucked away in the country with an absolutely gorgeous view of the countryside in any direction you may look. We stayed in the Rose Room which has its own private fireplace, king-sized bed, deep whirlpool tub and a four-head walk-in shower. When you first walk in, it reminds you of walking into a beautiful mansion straight out of the 1800s. Everything is so beautiful and perfectly placed, it instantly puts you in a wonderful mood. Everything down to the smell was so perfect. The owners were so hospitable and and gave us a wonderful tour of this beautiful 16,000 square-foot masterpiece the evening that we arrived. They immediately made us feel very welcome to be there and told us just to make ourselves at home. They gave us access to anything we needed in the kitchen and told us that we could walk freely through the home at our leisure. There was an unlimited supply of firewood, which we most certainly benefited from the whole time we were there, and it certainly kept her room very cozy and warm. We went down and ate breakfast at 9 AM and we were greeted with smiling faces, fresh coffee, fresh fruit with cream, and the best waffles with fresh blueberries that I have ever eaten. When we asked what time we needed to check out, the owners told us that there was no set time and to feel free to sit by the fireplace through the afternoon if we wanted to. I definitely want to visit this place again and I definitely want to stay in the same room, because it was one of the most romantic and beautiful places that I have ever been in my life. Upon walking into the house, there was an old antique piano with rose petals strewn across the top, which set a really good mood for the place, and when we walked into our room, everything was so immaculate, even down to the various antiques and perfumes sitting around this beautiful room. We had never stayed anywhere near this town but wanted to go somewhere new for Valentine's weekend, and we really hit a grand slam by deciding...
Read moreWe stayed here for two nights because it was recommended to us so we could be close to our friends' wedding location. It is a beautiful historical house with many rooms. The owners used ribbon that led to our room so that we could find our room despite our late arrival. We had a huge room ( I think it was the general's room). The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. My only complaint is that there were so many spiders all over the bathroom. I mean it was A LOT. I made my husband go in and kill everything he could find. I had to turn on the shower and use a cup to splash them all down the drain. That part was awful. I think it was really an infestation. Probably because our room was in the basement and it's a very old house. Other than that I absolutely loved the place. |Pros: |The owners are very friendly, they make an incredible breakfast ( buffet style & lots of variety), they let us have breakfast as late as 10am, no check in or check out time, they gave us directions around the area, and our room was huge and comfy, they also offered all access to their bar which we did not use but will next time. It was also pretty easy to find. |Cons:|There was no wifi in our room, no service in the area, spiders all over the bathroom, shower head needs to be replaced. ||Overall, I enjoyed my stay (despite being someone who is terrified of spiders,) it was so nice I got over it because the owners were amazing and our room was so big and...
Read moreWe had such a wonderful time thanks to the very hospitable owners and their B&B team. Joe and Emily Sayers were wonderful hosts. They were very accommodating and caring. The breakfast was so fresh and delicious. Mo and Kyle were equally kind and took care of our rooms, ensuring we were comfortable and felt welcomed. We were even greeted by all their dogs upon pulling up. All the dogs were very friendly and never jumped up on us. Everyone and all the little kind details made our weekend feel like we traveled to our very own (extremely large) home. The house and grounds are filled with so many stories and so much history. We relished in the history of how it was built and asked a ton of questions. We toured the entire house and were told there were 21 bathrooms in total! Emily meticulously designed and decorated this house to her standards and her passion shows. I believe it's even more beautiful during Christmas time because Mo said they put up 9 Christmas trees! I hope I have the pleasure of returning to see these wonderful people again soon. Thank you, Joe, Emily, Mo & Kyle for everything. You're our Appomattox family!...
