We stayed here for 3 weeks in April, primarily to be close to Port Aransas and Rockport for spring bird migration. Great location.
Now the nitty gritty; we had a full hook-up, back in site, on large gravel. It was nicely level, but the very large gravel made it difficult to walk on without turning your ankle. The surrounding curb with embedded glow-in-the-dark stones was a nice touch, and as often as possible I used it for a walkway. I would highly recommend to the owners that they have a 6 foot or more stockade style fence installed between the park and main road to cut down on traffic noise. It was bad, and always noticeable, even throughout the night. This was our biggest complaint. Also, in 3 weeks, in April, during the spring growing season, the grass was only cut once. On the day we left, I took photos of it, and the seed heads were knee high, and the grass held lots of mosquitoes. Get a lawn company that will mow more often on a schedule, not whenever he wants.
On the plus side, I loved watching the birds from our site when we weren't visiting Port Aransas or Rockport. That little pecan tree behind us (in site 6) had amazing bird activity as it came into flower, and the trees between site 1 & site 2 offered a morning of great birding as well. Lots of pretty wildflowers growing in the park as well.
And, if you like good Mexican food, the Jabanero's Restaurant in Ingleside...
Read moreWe had a very enjoyable stay here. There are only 4 spaces so best to book in advance and they have only been going for a few months too. We arrived late and there was an issue with the 30Amp (we only have 15 and 30 and they are set up for 20, 30 & 50) so they moved us to an adjacent pitch. It was all fixed the next day. There is no toilet, but each pitch has water, elec and sewage, so perfect for self-contained RVs. Each pitch has a concrete surround with glow in the dark pebbles in them, which I really liked. The WiFi was really stable and fast so we were able to have video WhatsApp chats with families back home too. Had a few nice chats with the son of the owner who gave me lots of advice on cowboy hats (still haven't got one yet). They are close to the Texas Aquarium and other things at Corpus Christi as well as excellent wildlife watching over on Padre Island (I forgot to take a pic of the pitch, but there were at the bird sanctuary just over the ferry). The free ferry was short, but fun and was best on bicycles as we saw the dolphins much more clearly. They are also, at time of writing, on Passport America so was even...
