A Wonderful Peaceful Experience
Staying at Red Coach Resort is such a pleasant experience that we are reluctant to leave. That is in fact what happened. We came to Alabama searching for a home and early on found the homes we were interested in were much further south. We chose to stay here and make the long drives instead. Our stay was four months though could have been longer but we found our home and will be starting a different journey.
Our site A-17 is ideal for our 45’ 5th wheel along with our dually truck. This is among a number of pull-through sites where the elevations and the angles are staggered providing privacy and terrific views of the forest. Do come prepared as your site may have a fair slope but once set up it’s easy to enjoy. This is a perfect blend of wilderness, camping, and luxury living that I’ve not seen in other parks. Even though there are plenty of trees I was never concerned about damaging our rig while maneuvering. We are able to take nice long walks along the river or just through the grounds. Centrally located are the tiered ponds with waterfall and dock. In the evenings you can hear wildlife everywhere but especially at the ponds. The fireflies were a special treat. There’s a very large playground with all sorts of fun stuff complete with full horseshoe sand boxes. The sites each have a firepit with grill and the picnic tables are an industrial grade rubber coated steel mesh that drain off rainwater. The wireless internet is incredibly fast. At 35 Mbps down and usually faster one could stream HD video on several devices and not see any buffering. Uploads are easily as fast or faster. This is very uncommon for any park but this place was designed by an engineer and he and his wife are expanding with tons of projects. Ask them about that.
The park is well managed ensuring everyone has an enjoyable experience. Our neighbors may come and go but everyone has been respectful of other guests and observing the park rules. The management’s response to any request has been lightning fast. I spotted a red ant hill 10’ from our door and within 10 minutes an employee was treating the mound and the pests were gone in short order. The billing was a bit confusing at first but the owners were very patient in explaining the accounting. I just wasn’t used to such a professional level of billing but it all made sense. The workers are constantly upgrading or performing maintenance which comes with pros and cons. I’ve met several workers as some are employees and some are contractors. They were all very pleasant and professional and always seemed to have time to speak with me. The only real negative I can come up with is sometimes a worker may be moving heavy equipment a little faster through the park than I’m comfortable with and that may throw more dust in the air but so far, no accidents that I’ve seen.
We feel we have been very fortunate to stay here and enjoy such a peaceful and soul refreshing time. We wholeheartedly recommend visiting Red Coach Resort and we hope to come back soon. Thanks so much...
Read moreSometimes bad things happen and when they do the last thing you want is for someone to take advantage of you. I feel Red Coach took advantage of us. We made our annual trip to Red Bay, AL to have routine annual inspection/maintenance on our RV. During the inspection several dangerous things were found and we needed to extend our stay there by over a week in order to get onto a schedule and get them fixed. We called Red Coach immediately and explained the situation and told them we needed to cancel our reservation. They said fine, but the refund would be in the form of a Gift Certificate for a future visit. What they didn't tell us was they charged us a $9.00 per day cancellation fee, a $25.00 service charge and a $10.00 security deposit. The $107 credit they issued was in the form of a Gift Card that had an expiration date of less than one year. Pretty sure they figured we wouldn't use it. So in total they screwed us out of the entire amount we paid! I will not use the Gift Certificate because I would never stay there again! They are thieves! I get the security deposit and have no problem with that. But all the rest! And refusing to issue a refund - only a gift certificate! We make an annual trip to Red Bay, as do most Tiffin owners, and we plan to stay at all the locations we used this year EXCEPT RED COACH. I'll eat the $107 Gift Certificate just to avoid giving them ANY business. They may have screwed me out of a couple hundred dollars this year, but they screwed themselves out of a lot more than that year after year. We live in a 55+ Community where over 50% of the people there own Tiffins - and also make their annual trip to Red Bay and I am posting this information on our Community Facebook page so others are forewarned. Things break on RV's and when they do you have to get them fixed before you can move on. In our case we found we were literally lucky to have made it to Red Bay given the faulty part we had! Red Coach was not booked up so they did not lose any business other than ours with our cancellation. I feel like they cheated us. Businesses that cheat their customers may win on the short term but they will always lose in...
Read moreWe have had several years of RV and camping, so I want to warn you of a campground we stayed outside of Huntsville, AL. It’s called Red Coach Resort in Toney, AL, and is totally not any resort, let alone a decent campground, and we have our history over the 15 years that we have camped and owned our two fifth wheels. I had read some negative reviews of this campground, but thought I’d give it a try since it was going to be so much closer to our event that weekend and I didn’t worry that it wasn’t a “resort” as the campground had insinuated that some others complained about.
We didn’t even stay at this campground for 25 mins to quickly realize that this campground was clearly not an ideal place for us and didn’t want to waste any more time. I have never seen such a horrible laid out campground as well as lack of service to the campers. The photos are NOT photos of this campground and I did not even see grass, there is no bath house, and it's basically just hilly gravel sites that they are charging for along with ridiculous fees that you don't get charged from other campgrounds.
First, there is no office to check in. Office was rarely available when I called and it would go straight to voicemail.
The gravel road throughout the campground was nothing but hills, rough terrain and no clear signs where sites are, or where an exit is. A yard worker had to point to where our site was that was given to us previously online.
Then, the big deal breaker was that our site was so unlevel, so much that the tires on our fifth wheel was 5 inches off the ground and stairs didn't even extend that far. When we arrived, we set up our fifth wheel on the site to see what we were dealing with. We told staff the dilemma of our steps and the extreme tilt. Management has refused to give us a refund of the site, or at least the next night, and there is some security fee that you also get charged that I have never in my life seen a campground charge.
Don’t waste your time. Go to the local state park instead and you’ll be...
