When we arrived to our room we found it had not been cleaned from the previous guest. The packaged soap was ripped open. A wet towel was in the shower. A cigar butt and toathpaste were dirty in the sink and a wrapper from a pastry was in the trash. There was no ice bucket liner. But no worries there because the hotel ice machine didn't work anyway. The shower was nice and hot. The bed was comfortable. Although I wonder if the sheets were changed between guests. The room refrigerator sounds like someone snoring. Smoke detector is missing essential parts.Live earwig type bug on floor we killed.Instant oatmill or cold cereal for breakfast. Not the Choice Hotel breakfast I was expecting. Half gallon of community milk. There's a community peanut butter jar but no loaf of bread. Coffee was good. No sugar in the sugar dispenser. Tv remote in room didn't work. They should list as an amenity that the speed limit is 75mph on hwy. No napkins in the eating area. Never brought us soap or shampoo. We decided to check out a day sooner than planned and they won't give a refund. Hope to never stay here again. We would rather leave and pay for an extra day...
Read moreThe TL;DR: Minimum viable hotel... with compromises. Make sure you handle issues requiring staff during office hours! While I didn't hate it, I also don't intend to stay there again.
The Good: Low price, room was clean at check-in.
The Bad: Renovations were done ... hastily ... and seemingly not completely. Room service is erratic. Toiletries are the grudging minimum - tiny soaps, packets of shampoo, bath towels that are more XXL hand towels (thin at that). Hot water was not consistent. Bedding is meh grade. Showerhead is short enough that most adult men will need to duck under it. The immediate surroundings are best described as 'desolate'.
The Ugly: Noise - so much noise from the nearby truck stop, adjacent rooms. Staff is inconsistent (never saw the same person at the desk twice), not always available, procedures are multiple-choice, and the office is only nominally open...
