I’m a little late posting this as we stayed here a few weeks back but this was the WORST camping experience of my life. They cut down a tree in the campground directly next to us at 7am and then proceeded to wood chipper it. I had tears streaming down my face from all the wood chips flying everywhere and couldn’t breath. I had to sit in my car with our dog who was freaking out because of the noise until it was over (took about an hour). They didn’t give us any warning, we would have so much rather been woken up at 6:30 and been able to leave before this started. The campground should have at the VERY least closed the campsites directly next to where they were planning on doing this if not closed for renovations for the day, or maybe waited until 11am after check out. This sucked so much for us as we don’t get to camp all that often and were really looking forward to a night away from the city to have some peace and quite - LOL. And it wasn’t a cheap campground either!!...

I would give Sandy Flat a higher rating because the location was nice right along the river, however, we came on a weekend when a group was incredibly loud well beyond quiet hours. They were breaking all of the rules such as max people and cars per site and were spread out into the common areas of the camp ground.

When the host came by to collect fees for an additional car, we brought up the amount of people at the other site and he said this particular group comes a few times a year and although upper management has even gotten involved, this group just won’t follow any of the enforced policies. In addition they brought a full on PA system and were bumping house music well into midnight. They refused to turn their music off.

At the end of the day, there were several groups of people breaking the various rules and it felt like the site host couldn’t do much.

Although I liked the grounds, we won’t...

HOT SPRINGS IS NO MORE. I came out here hoping to head over to the mineral hot springs. Sadly the sheriffs department destroyed it. There is another one I heard of but was not able to make it to. It’s on all trails under Remington hot springs. It had recently been commented on saying that there is only 1 pool currently. The rest are under water. The river is running HIGH ! Not good for swimming or tubing. But very beautiful and can kind of put your feet in. Camp ground is clean ! Good views. Fresh water ! It tastes good too. Lake Isabella is moments away ! Good for boating and swimming. We went up to kernville about 15 minute drive from sandy flats. Cute little town ! We enjoyed the kernville brewery. As well as a white water rafting ride with the south sierra company. Would love to come back when the water is a...

Located a comfortable distance outside Kern City proper, you find yourself in a gorgeous venue with clean bathrooms, water spigots near every campground, and a 1 minute walk into the Kern River. An easy to navigate campground will lead you to many wonderful spots that sport ample shade and the feeling of privacy. A short 15 minute drive puts you into Kern City where you can enjoy a cold beer and delicious bite at Kern brewing or peruse the antique town nearby! You'll find yourself ending your day and falling asleep outside of the crowds and lights in a gorgeous location while simultaneously being right next to all the rad stuff to enjoy. I highly recommend this site!

This was a great spot to visit. It lacks a bit of shade so if you mid summer it will be hot, we went the week of 7/26/21 and it was pretty hot. There was an annoying party but they left the next day. We spent the day at the river to cope with the heat. The river was a bit low but perfect to cope with the heat and not has dangerous. The host Bob was great and friendly, keeping the bathroom as clean has possible considering they are not running toilets and basically a hole in the ground lol. The upside there is fresh well water in a couple of spots around the park. The best secluded spots close to the bath rooms, water and the river beach are #32, 34, 33 and 30.
