Read moreI went to Yogi Bear last month to spend some time at the Zoo. They were just opening up this year so I was curious and we went to check out Zooland Campground and Yogi Bear. We rode through Zooland and it was later in the afternoon and no one was around to answer any questions. When we stopped at Yogi Bear there were folks at the main building the soon to be Ranger Station and answered many questions and gave us to the opportunity to drive through and look around. We spoke to them about visiting the Zoo since that was the reason for the trip to start with and they offered help with discounted tickets and said they have giveaways for Zoo tickets all the time.
When you drive through there you quickly see they are just getting started. The ammenities are few in the campground. They have a water slide a bounce house, and an area for games. The discounted Zoo tickets was what won us over. We ended up saving money by using the campground. We missed on amenities like a pool mini golf, or a kids playground, but their staff helped make up with what is still in the works.
The site was huge level and spacious. We had no issues with the campsite at all. As for the activities each night they had something going on. The owners set up a hay ride and they take you around the property and show you what the future will bring. Everyone was super friendly from staff to other campers.
Even with the fact they are just getting up and going and none of the camping amenities are set up yet you definitely need to check this place out. Camping with them this year put us on a preferred list and gets us information and discounts for the future visits we will definitely have at Yogi Bear of Asheboro.
I can say in a couple years when they finish all their plans and everything is up and running other campgrounds in the area better watch out. If all their plans come together everyone will be wanting to go here.

Read moreAs my family spent a few days here. We have to say this was not what is expected from a jelly stone camping ground. This cam ground is very large. All the amenities are so far away from the spots. Not being able to have rented a golf cart made it hard for our parents to be able to enjoy anything as the walk was so far away. (No golf carts available). Apparently they didn’t have enough to accommodate the size of their camp ground. The rules were a bit odd. Example. ( no adult swimming alone). Being a grown adult if you’d like to go to the pool. ALONE then there should be no questions. The pool wrist bands was a bit much. As you had to have them to enter the pool and also check in with your name on a list. This was to keep surrounded neighbors out. Understandable. But one or the other. There was one bathhouse for this entire LARGE facility. 3 shower houses/bathrooms. With only 2 to be used as showers. With a rule stating people staying in a RV are expected to use their shower. Ok. Some people have many people traveling with them. And the shower does not work for everyone. They had food vendors to come from a open time. However one of the vendors packed and left. The front desk hadn’t even know. They’d left. I hen send out a message stating they are their from this time to this time. They should have been notified as the leaving. Not even one will enjoy a desert before a meal. And lastly the young man was very rude. In a very rude manner he informed everyone in the “store” he was short staffed and was t able to get to things.
As jelly stone visitors we will not come back to this one. Very...
