Was looking for a cheap place to stay while visiting UConn as a prosective grad student. I had planned on being there for three nights. Now, I don't need much. A bed, a shower, and a couple outlets to charge my phone would be enough for me. It's a cheap motel so I wasn't expecting much. My room (14) was clearly pretty dingey. Stains on the bedding, weird spots on the walls, crumbs under the chair cushions. I could honestly deal with all that just fine, but at about 2AM I spotted something scurry across the bed as I was watching TV. Instinstively I smacked it with the remote, and lo and behold - bed bug. I spent the next few hours frantically scouring the room for more of them. I never saw any more but it's hard to believe there was just one. I've heard too many horror stories about infestations to want to stay in that room, so I tried going to the front desk to get a different room but the main office was locked. I called the hotel phone number and the person on the other end just told me to go to the office in the morning before hanging up on me. At this point I'd have slept in my car if I had one, but I'd ubered from the airport. It was in the middle of nowhere in the dead of night, so I didn't have many options but to buckle down for the night. I had a meeting the next morning with someone at UConn so I really wanted to be able to get some sleep, but I was afraid to sleep in the bed so I tried (with little success) to sleep sitting on the desk chair. I put my stuff up on the desk (apparently elevation helps keeps the bugs out, or so the internet told me). As soon as the office opened at like 7Am I came in and told them I was leaving and luckily they refunded me for the two nights I wouldn't be there. I moved over to the Inn on Storrs, which was lightyears better than this place. (Of course I was frantically trying to disinfect everything and running everything I could through the laundry.) Like I said, I really don't need much when it comes to cheap accommodations but a bed bug infestation is where I draw the line. If they dealt with the bugs and just cleaned the place up a bit this could really be a nice little place, but until then I can only warn people to look elsewhere. The money you'd save going here is not worth it.

Also, judging by the other reviews, some rooms seem to be way better than others, because most of the photos of the rooms I'm seeing look completely different from the one I stayed in. Make of that...

This hotel was worse than the Republicans and the Democrats in the same room. The night clerk was rude, dishonest, and seemed to be pulling a scam. When we got to the hotel at 1 AM, the clerk asked us if we had any pets. When we replied yes, we were made to leave a $50 cash deposit even though our 15 lb well behaved dog was going to sleep in the car (he told us that he assumed we would be sneaking the dog into the room). We would get our deposit back in the AM if there "is not a single hair in the room and if the hidden security cameras don't catch you sneaking the dog into the room." Our dog slept comfortably on his bed in the cargo area of the car that night and in the morning while taking him on a walk I was approached by another clerk who told me that since I had a dog, we would need to pay a $10 pet fee. That was our first real clue that the night clerk was up to some scam. I explained to the day clerk that we had left a deposit which I fully intended to get back. Once we vacated the room, we went to the office to get a clerk to check the room amd return the deposit. There we were confronted by the night clerk who said we would not get the deposit back because "your dog stayed in the room." When I refuted his accusation he told me he had checked our car at 2AM and our dog wasn't in it and he would show me the security tape. Well, he was a bold faced liar running a scam. I told him to show me the tape and while he was at it, call the police so that I could have him investigated for extortion and theft. A third clerk showed up, went and checked the room (which of course did not have evidence of a dog being in it) and gave the $50 back. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL. THEY WILL TRY...

Highly recommend if all you need is clean, comfort and to be treated like you are, as a customer, their most important asset. This little find was just awesome. Sometimes we stumble upon the perfect place, perfect diner, perfect restaurant etc. I will add this motel to that list. Being as the price was so reasonable I had my doubts. I called ahead but did not reserve my room. I wanted to be sure if I was going to commit to a few nights that it would be acceptable. I arrived, checked out the room and it was just what I needed and the experience has FAR EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS. No unnecessary frills but comfort, safe location, microwave, fridge, comfy bed and clean. Was it perfect? No. No coffee or iron but I never depend on that when planning my trips. The cable was enough for me. A HD flat screen with about 100 channels. I am stuck in a winter storm and if I am not with my loved ones I would not want to be anywhere else. I highly recommend this motel if you are looking to save a few bucks and just want basic, clean accommodations. Clean, comfy, beautiful rural location but close to anything I needed. The owners are just wonderful and I was treated so well. Highly recommended. Only reason it is not 5 stars is because there is no such thing...

We got exactly what we paid for, two beds and a door within a reasonable drive of Brimfield during sale week that was not outrageously priced. That's the end of the positives. There were hairs in the shower and on the towel rack that did not belong to us, the bathroom wall desperately needs to be scrubbed, when I went to retrieve something from the floor that fell off the bed next to the window, I discovered someone's orphaned sock and some hair ties, indicating that housekeeping had been less than thorough for quite some time. The beds are hard as rocks and mine squeaked every time I turned over. No in room coffee maker, either. This was probably an adorable little 50's roadside motel back in the day but now it's just shabby and sad, with a few houses on the drive back from the main road that look like hillbilly trash heaps.
