Cedar Cove Ranch — Hotel in Athens

This place is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SERIOUSLY... if you're thinking about going to this place for a hunt/getaway/or what ever stop thinking and just book it! From start to finish everything was exceptional. Customer service ✔️ Planning ✔️ Accommodations ✔️ Food ✔️ Staff ✔️ Hunting guides ✔️ Activities ✔️ Hunting ✔️ The lodge ✔️ Fishing ✔️ The list goes on! So I came here with my family for a Hunting trip with my self and my now fiancé and our two older kids ages 14 and 8 that were also Hunting and my mother who's elderly and my toddler (so 2 nonhunters) And I can definitely say weather you're Hunting or not theres PLENTY of super fun things do that can easily keep anyone of any age super busy and have fun doing it! They.were extremely accommodating to my elderly mother as far as taking her to do things helping in and out of the vehicles showing her around and all around caring for her... and as far as my toddler that wasn't Hunting had an Absolute Blast! Now as far as the hunting!!!!! Its literally the best experience I've ever had and for a first time Hunting experience for my fiancé and two kids the guides (Troy, Hayden, Lief, Kelly) are extremely intelligent and know the animals on the property and have tons of combined experience! They will do literally everything in their power to make sure you get the animal you're coming for! My daughter and son each got an exotic ram My fiancé got a blackbuck And I got an axis deer 4 animals in a 4 day 3 night stay... so a SUCCESSFUL HUNT FOR SURE! ASK FOR THEM TO BE YOUR GUIDES AND I PROMISE YOU THEYLL MAKE SURE YOU GET THE JOB DONE! As soon as we ever arrived on property we saw so many animals from massive Fallow deers to blue wildebeest to gian pere David's! From the moment we got there the chef Tyler and Sadie were literally and mad scientists in the kitchen (cooking up some of the most delicious meals we've had) huge shout out to them!!!!!!!! Soooo .... this trip was also a surprise proposal that I was able to secretly plan with the help of the owner Ripple and Houston and Troy. Thanks to them my family will never forget this trip! Let me just start by saying this is one of the best vacations I have ever had. We booked this trip for my son's birthday hog\exotic species hunt and I really didn't know what to expect. Spencer was so helpful during the booking process and made me feel very comfortable about the entire process and what to expect. He said they could accommodate any hunting style we wanted or needed and, boy, was he right. The moment we arrived we were greeted by Saydee (the most amazing chef), Kelly (the sweet hospitality host) and Austin, our incredible hunting guide. They showed us to our rooms and around the property and let us settle in before we went out on our first hunt. Austin worked tirelessly to make sure we found, and put a hunt on, our species of choice and my son walked away with a Gemsbok! Austin was always ready to take us on a hunt, or take us out on the lake to catch bass, or guide us through the 5 stand tactical course. His customer service and guiding was hands down exceptional. Such a great asset to this ranch. And then there was the food. Saydee was our amazing chef and I can say I haven't eaten that well in a very long time (if ever). Full course meals three times a day with appetizers and constant snacks available at all times. Full bar open all day long as well:) I never felt hungry:) She is a kind and incredible person. Layce joined our group as the hospitality host on the second day and again, her customer service and attention to detail is the best I've experienced in a long time. Especially in today's world where customer service seems to come second. The Cedar Cove property is second to none. The exotic animals wandering around, the serene lake, the comfortable accomodations and the fire pit at night. I definitely was not ready to leave this little slice of paradise. This one is tough for me as I understand times are tough for everyone, businesses included but I think the way CCR is handling this could be much much better. I am posting the email I sent them recently.

I wanted to write to you as a member of the group that unfortunately cannot make our reservation this weekend.

I received your email this morning with a bit of shock. To offer a credit in the amount of only 50% and within a short 90 days felt like a slap in the face. As you surely have heard this outbreak is likely to last well past then, as the President stated it yesterday it could be well into August.

We paid ahead for both a hunting package, and activities package. You will be providing none of these and none of this will cost you any money. It would be only fair to at a minimum return the hunting AND activities package fees. On the other side I believe it would only be fair of us to accept the loss of the lodging as we understand these are difficult times and though it will hurt us as well.

We are choosing not to travel both for our own health, but yours as well. I am sure in these times you would not want to be around a large group of people like us. As you know that would risk your health as much as ours.

Of course we know that it is tough right now for businesses as it is you must see for individuals like myself ( a teacher who may soon be without pay).

Now I understand you have no legal obligation to refund us or even offer a FULL credit within a reasonable time period, it seems to me it would be the HUMAN AND DECENT thing to do and is being done by thousands of people and businesses across the country right now even though it is difficult. Even in our small group numerous other small and large businesses alike have been willing to refund other reservations.

Not because it is the legal thing to do, but because it is the RIGHT thing to do.
