Blue Moon Resort — Hotel in Au Sable Township

A wonderful place for a family getaway in Michigan. The new owners are serious about making this place even better. We stayed in Unit 2, and it is probably the best one. The unit has been remodeled and everything is new. The furniture is nice, the queen beds were comfortable, and the kitchen/living area is spacious. The kitchen has all the amenities you need to cook. It is overlooking the lake and has a good view. The care takers were amazing and always available for us. The beach is clean and the kids loved playing on the sand from 9 to 6. There were kayaks to rent for $15 an hour. The outdoor area was perfect for the family. They have a nice swing, BBQ grills, picnic tables, and games for everyone. There are a few firepits to use at night. Be sure to check out the night sky (without the firepit!), the view is breathtaking with all the stars. Visited her twice now ... both times had issues with owner.. Although the property is nice and grounds are well kept up, cabin #6 is very cool as well but we won't be back. Made reservations for two nights @ $80 per night, at arrival price was changed to $100 per night (not cool). Was told had to increase everyone's prices because of damages , sorry not our problem. Discussed this with other guests, they were also dissatisfied. We feel owner scammed for extra $ knowing it would difficult and a hassle to get other accomodation on the spot. Also leaves threatening literature in cabins regarding the toilets and a lack of septic service and if " it backs up ...you will pay up $$$" .... kind of low class. Love the Oscoda and Tawas area but will never stay here again ....too many other options...

This resort used to be wonderful with a dedicated owner and manager until she passed away in 2019. It now has new owners and a new name "blue moon" and has gone downhill.

Last year the property was a mess, kitchen supplies were few, mismatched, 10 forks and no knives, landscaping not done, cottages in disrepair and no manager onsite. When we arrived we found out that the cottage we reserved was shut down for the year for bed bugs and no one warned us ahead of time. We had to take a much smaller cottage and were lucky it was available.

We reserved all cottages last year for the coming week this year and had it cancelled 3 days ago because of a mixup. Dont bother...
