Northern Nights Resort — Hotel in Au Train Township

The best substitution ever! We found out late Friday night on our way up to the UP that our reservation for Saturday night had been booked incorrectly at the motel. Frantically going online and making calls to every place possible near Munising, we were out of luck and everything was already booked. So I broadened my scope and came across this awesome place. I called by chance and asked if they happened to have a cabin available for Saturday night. Amy told me she did, but it was a three bedroom. There were four of us so it was perfect. The price was reasonable and it turned out to be even better for us than the motel! ||I explained our situation to Amy and she was so helpful and accommodating. She got us all set to arrive on Saturday. When we arrived, she had all the lights on for us and the fireplace going and warm too. ||I cannot say enough how much we love, love, love this place! Everything is so clean, comfortable and homey! We had a very relaxing evening, even though it was a cold and raining October night. We were hoping to enjoy the fire pit by the lake, but Mother Nature had different ideas for that. The bedrooms were perfect and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking supplies and very convenient. We had stopped in Munising and picked up a few items to make a quick breakfast in the morning. The morning views of the lake were beautiful. After talking with Amy about activities there and her booking policies and schedules; we decided we needed to come back here next summer. We are avid kayakers with other friends so within the hour we had two more couples ready for the next adventure. We have already booked the four bedroom cabin for next summer. ||So they say things happen for a reason and this reason is for us to find a gem of a relaxing, comfortable, clean, reasonably price and accommodating place to vacation. Came up to Michigan for along weekend to hike and see some of the many waterfalls in the area. ||The cabin was very comfortable and had a good stock of cooking utensils, bowls and pots and pans.||We found that a long weekend was not enough time to explore all the things the area has to offer, so we will definitely be back and will be booking a cabin at Northern nights.||The cabins are located with access to Lake AuTrain. It's good for what it is, but what it is, is cheap. The walls are made of paneling (not with paneling on them, the whole thing is paneling). They don't provide towels, toilet paper, or any toiletries. Wifi is extremely slow and only Verizon gets service. But it's very low cost to stay at and with a Capacity of 30 people, it's possible for a group to rent out the entire resort. Management is fantastic.
