I was very disappointed with the yurt we stayed in, rented from Airbnb. It was extremely expensive ($200 for one night)and definitely not worth it for what was provided. We arrived in the evening and the door had been left wide open, bringing in all sorts of bugs, inusing ear wigs. I didn't even want to sleep under the covers on the bed so I slept in my own sleeping bag. There is a microwave, fridge, coffee mugs, but no bowls, plates or utensils. The bathroom provided is across the lot inside the resorts laundry room. Forget going to bathroom at night unless you brought a flashlight. Even with electricity in the yurt, there was no outdoor lighting. The solar lights didn't work. The welcome gift provided was a bag of microwave popcorn from Costco and a cheap plastic cup with the resort name on it. The TV has more than one remote to function and the remote needed to operate it had dead batteries so we weren't able to watch anything but one channel. Overall I was completely dissatisfied for that price. I expected it to be a lot nicer. Plus it's not even in a touristy town, it's 20 some minutes away from Munising. I definitely do not recommend unless they change prices.

One of the most peaceful and relaxing experiences I’ve had. I booked a small cabin for my wife and I. We we drove from Holland MI all the way up there to celebrate our anniversary. Best idea ever! I honestly was not expecting much from the cabin we rented but boy was I surprised. It had a nice sleeping room, kitchen full with pots, pans, fridge, gas stove, microwave and if I remember a oven. There was a small 3 seat dining table, living room with a nice small sofa and a TV with cable. Place was very clean and even had WiFi! The AC worked fine and heat as well. I will for sure come back! Outside they supply you with a nice fire pit and camping chairs and a nice area to BBQ. The lake is feet away and is super clean. We enjoyed our stay 100%. Pictured rock is just a few miles away but the drive was very beautiful.

The cabins here were SO comfortable. We went with a huge group and booked four of the cabins at once. Each one was very well stocked with everything we might need (even Tupperware, towels, cooking oil!). Their beach was well maintained and combed every morning, and their staff even bailed out our family boats after the rain. They also own the ice cream shop up the road (which was STELLAR) and the kayak/ canoe river service. The only complaint that I had was that we didn't realize that there's a major road that splits the resort in two. We had some young kids, and it was a big concern that every time they wanted to go to the beach they had to cross this street. I should have done my research a bit better on that one. Highly recommend- especially if you don't have young kids to worry about with the road :)

Our group of 9 rented the Elk’s Cabin # 8 for a long weekend in late August. Overall we had a great stay. The cabin was really more of a ranch style house with 3 bedrooms and one bathroom for 9 people (yikes) but we made that work. There was an outside shower stall next door and the laundry room next door had a bathroom if we had an emergency. The home was clean and comfortable and fit our needs and was reasonably priced. The kitchen was decent sized and so was the living room, even though we did not spend much time there. We spent a lot of time out on the wrap around deck overlooking the private backyard and the fire pit. ||Down side of the weekend was the screen door on the sliding glass door going in and out onto the deck didn’t work and there was not A/C there so not having a breeze coming in that door (the flies and mosquitoes were horrible) was very hot! Also the WI-FI didn’t work for the entire weekend we were there. (In fairness, we were compensated for that inconvenience later) but it was rather frustrating all weekend trying to plan something or use wi-fi to call kids when it was needed. ||The swimming area and fishing area were across the street. A couple of the guys went over to fish, but gave up because there were too many screaming kids coming over so that was pointless. Renting a pontoon for the afternoon was a little pricey so we opted out of that. ||Really loved the location and the privacy of the backyard. There is a great little market just down the road that we utilized many times. Parking is a little tight and some cars are parked right under your bedroom window, which is open during the summer so you get the slam, slam of door in your ear if people come and go, but other than a few minor things, we had an amazing trip. We would stay here again. We would just be better prepared for a couple...

If you're thinking about renting with Northwoods resort, do it. Plain and simple. There's a reason they have nearly a 5 star rating - the business, locations and service are all great.

My family has been renting from them once a year since 2017 and we plan to continue well into the future; our yearly trip to the UP is a staple. Northwoods has a really good selection of cabins and properties to rent, in Au Train and in Munising proper. They're reasonably priced, comparable to other cabin rental agencies in the area, and their customer service has been great. One year they accidentally double booked a cabin and they upgraded us to a better one while honoring the original price. They're easy to work with and respond to concerns quickly - one of our cabins didn't have a high chair for our child; I texted the customer service number (I believe it was Erin who addressed our request) and the agency had a highchair sent over in less than an hour.

The only minor complaint we have is that some of the rental properties are a little dated and need renovation. Otherwise, everything has been comfortable and well-appointed. The pillows on the beds are pretty garbage but we always travel with our own anyway so that's a moot point.

My wife and I have come up to Munising by ourselves. We've brought friends up to stay with us. We already have plans to come up next year with family. When my coworkers ask where I'm going on vacation I make a point of telling them about the resort. I can't recommend them highly enough and they'll continue to get our...
