Magical and Perfect in Every Way I needed a last minute getaway as I was scheduled for a weekend relaxation/solitude retreat at another location, but it got canceled on me due to low attendance and I was fortunate enough to have my husband suggest this place. Karen in the spa was AMAZING. She helped me to arrange the MOST incredible retreat for myself. My intention was a healing weekend after suffering the loss of my grandmother and this was truly a perfect getaway. I started my journey with yoga with Candace and it was fabulous. My spa suite was so relaxing and I had champagne and a cheese plate to enjoy while there. My facial and massage with Daisy were both just what i needed. Upon check in to my pyramid suite there was Christmas music playing and a fire going with my belongings tucked safely and neatly inside. My dinner reservation at the Barn was made for me and I chose to accept the shuttle over and my driver was very friendly. The chef at the Barn made me special accommodation for my vegetarian preference and it was really exactly what I was hoping for. The bartender made unique drink selections for me and I thoroughly enjoyed every sip. Turndown service was awesome and I appreciated the champagne to have a glass and enjoy in the nice jacuzzi tub.

The next morning I started my day with a perfect yoga with Cara and it was a beautiful practice with a lovely playlist. I had a phenomenal Ayurvedic consult with Candace and I would highly recommend it! The crystal healing attunement with Hope was extraordinary and I loved every minute of it.

I enjoyed a spa lunch and saw a coyote right outside the window while i was having lunch! Tea in the library was so nice and the Christmas decorations throughout the resort were so gorgeous.

This was the most perfect healing and relaxing weekend I could have ever had and it is all thanks to Karen for designing this entire getaway for me. She was just such a wonderful person and I am so very happy I listened to my husband and called to make a reservation here. I will be back and bring him with me for our anniversary or Valentines Day.

Extremely dissatisfied with the level of competence and service at this hotel. My boyfriend and I booked a suite and paid around $600 dollars. A more than reasonable rate for the accommodations I prefer. The hotel had no issue taking payment in full and providing a very detailed description of their policies. Please keep in mind we are traveling here for a wedding as it would not be my vacation destination of choice.

Over a week later, he received a call stating the entire hotel was booked and our accommodations would be canceled. Obviously they are providing a refund but this is absolutely unacceptable. As a business in the year 2024, there should be no reason why a website does not reflect current reservation and booking availability. Additionally, the Walden representative said they would “ask the wedding party if they were ok with us staying?” What? That reflects as highly unprofessional. Not only have I worked directly in the hospitality industry on a director level, but also in onboarding of hotel/vacation rental software. In this day and age, there is no excuse for such a discrepancy. Management really should be more privy to the inner workings of their booking process, as to not allow this oversight to occur at what is supposed to be a luxury accommodation. I like to support non-corporate/single owner businesses, but being a smaller or family owned business is not an excuse for unprofessionalism.

If for some reason, there was an issue I expect some sort of consolation for the MAJOR inconvenience. No consolation, voucher or anything was offered. The reps response truly lacked the personal touch I expect from not staying at a large chain hotel.

The fact that we will now have to rent a car, drive to a suitable accommodation at midnight, thus preventing us from having a cocktail with dinner or at the wedding, is irritating. I feel responsibility and accountability was not taken by the hotel representative. Disappointed by this experience, and that nothing was done to encourage us to ever stay here despite the error on the hotel’s part. In closing buyer beware, their direct booking via the website may not be accurate. Do not get excited for a trip, or have any level of expectation because you may end up sorely...

Dear Walden Family, Where to even begin…This has been the most incredible stay and experience I think my husband and I have ever had. Ranking right up there with going to an amazing hotel in Saint Lucia for our Honeymoon…staying in hotels in Manhattan NY, Los Angeles CA, and some amazing hotels in Arizona, I truly have to say, this has been the best over all experience of them. There are no words to describe the beauty of the property…it is a perfect blend of country-side meets luxury. Every space offers a delightful sense of welcomeness but privacy at the same time. The amenities are wonderful, the food is outstanding, and the Spa: truly top of the line and one of a kind. The rooms (aka: suites) are such a pleasant layout–I didn’t even want to leave our room. I walked daily around the property and to the awesome clubhouse/pool which is the perfect distance away. My Spa experience was the best I’ve ever had…we live in San Diego and La Costa Resort and Spa is ranked very highly, I know…The Walden blew them away. The individual suits are genius and lend to unwinding before the service even begins in a way I’ve never experienced. My therapist Nikki did such a wonderful job (I’m embarrassed to say, but I was so relaxed I caught myself snoring a few times!) My pedicure was so pleasant–the quality of work and care of all the staff here has been beyond 5-star…I’ve never been in a hotel/facility where so many things were “possible”, I don’t think a single thing I asked for was met with an answer other than, “of course” or “happy to help”. Walden is a hidden gem, and we will be telling everyone we know about how incredible the whole time here has been. Hopefully one day one will exist in Southern California ;) Thank you again for a wonderful experience!
