We booked the deluxe cabins due to our travel trailer needing some repairs and were unable to take it camping. We looked into several different cabins near Gaylord and found this campground in a search engine. ||They were perfect for what we needed. It was like experiencing tiny house living in the middle of a campground. There are a few different cabins to choose from and we chose this style due to the extra sleeping bunks. The cabin was super clean with dim lighting features. There was an AC/Heating unit with a fan option. Also there was a mini fridge, microwave and coffee pot w/filters. A dining table with four chairs and cable tv w/remote. There was a small bathroom with a shower. The water pressure was perfect and hot! In the main room was a queen size bed, which is a part of the dining and kitchen area. My favorite part of this cabin was the porches. One side had a small rocker chair and was only accessible from the cabin. The other porch was the entrance side and had a nice outdoor furniture and table for outdoor dining or lounging. There was also in ground fire pit for those nightly bon fire and a picnic table nearby. For outdoor grilling, there was a charcoal grill available. ||The campground is super peaceful and quiet. There is a pool, putt putt golf, gem mining area (just buy the bags), pedal cart rentals for the kiddos, playground, volleyball, basketball, game room, biking trails and many other things for the kids to do. You can buy wood from the camp store and the friendly staff on golf carts will deliver it right to your campsite. The campground roads are unpaved but well groomed. The staff at the store and throughout were also super friendly and helpful. I like the personal touch they bring with reminder text sent to your phones and the conversations as we were passing through. ||On a side note…when we booked it stated we needed to bring our own bedding. Upon arrival, they had clean bedding and towels available for us to use. We just used our own just because of the possibility for an allergen issue with my child. This is also a pet friendly cabin for an extra fee. ||We would definitely be using this campground again either with an RV or renting one of the...
Read moreTHIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! The grounds and site were well kept and very nice but the staff, specifically Dave was extremely rude! It was as if he went out of his way to target our kids. Every time we had a run in with him he would start the conversation in an aggressive, abrasive, angry and disrespectful manner. We tried several times to just talk with him to find out what the issue was and he wouldn’t even attempt a civil conversation but would say our kids were being disrespectful and then he didn’t understand why we would take offense to him not allowing us to deal with our kids if they had in fact done something wrong. There were several times we were with them and he would begin SCREAMING at them for no reason and when asked would “inform” us adults that “it wasn’t up for discussion”??? We were left thoroughly confused and felt like a complete inconvenience more than a valued customer. Not to mention they like to nickel and dime you for everything. For the price you pay to stay the and the inflated store prices the additional “amenities” and I use that term loosely, should be included. Dave even went so far as to seal one of the kids’ pair of slides and BB ball and lock them in his shed and refused to give them back because he accidentally left them in the pool area and went back after hrs to get them. I understand they are running a business and you have to maintain rules and structure but it really is in your approach with people and your customer service and this place doesn’t care about either. At the end of the day all they want is money and believe you are replaceable. We were even told that by Georganna as we checked out and complained about Dave. Of course she defended Dave as she is his wife (found this out later) and we were told to leave and not come back as there would always be someone to replace us! So with all that being said we will NEVER be camping at this KOA again and I will tell as many people as I know about my experience and post it on as many platforms as I can to spread the word about these horrible humans! 🍻Hears to hoping karma gives you a big kiss on the lips for treating our kids the...
Read moreEDIT: we just stayed again this past weekend (August 2023) and I wanted to come in and update my review. Our experience was hands down better than two years ago. The staff was was friendly and welcoming. There were events planned for the kids and families. The changes put in place by the new owners has made this KOA so welcoming and enjoyable again. I cannot say enough how happy we were to see this campground return to what it was when we were younger. It's always been a family favorite, and we can say it is once again. We can't wait to return!
2021: This campground has always been a go-to for me. It's located an hour from just about everything. The facilities are clean and there are activities for the kids. I feel like the value of the wristband isn't quite worth the price. The amount of firewood you get for the price is lacking, as well. for the price we paid, and the fact they don't allow you to bring in wood (despite it not being communicated at all, so seems like they shouldn't be allowed to enforce it), guests should be given at least one complementary bundle. And while I would recommend this KOA, we were disappointed with our last stay. The staff members, two in particular, were incredibly rude. While I fully understand that there are rules and they need to be enforced, there is a way to do so without being aggressive and rude. My daughter was yelled at for being the jump pad without a wristband, even though she did have a wristband. We were yelled at for being loud, before quiet hours, and instead of just asking us to turn it down, the staff member started barking orders and treated us with zero respect. We tried to be very respectful of the rules and other campers, yet every time we turned around we were getting yelled at. I have never been treated like this at this KOA before, and it has really made us question returning. We fully understand a need for the rules, but there is a way to talk to people without just barking orders and...
