The cabin was clean and orderly and had the basic kitchen necessities. But we will not be staying here again strictly because it did not offer what my mother was told it would. The only bed that we could stand to sleep on was in the loft, which was fine for me but my mother had trouble getting in and out of. The parking was very tight and we only had 1 truck. There is no office and it was hard for us to get into contact with the owners. They did not inform us ahead of time that it was cash only at the time of check in and town is a good 15 minutes away. My mom was told that there was a lake with a pier that we could fish on, that they had buffalo and deer, and that there were hiking trails. We found out when we got there the 'lake' had been dried up for a while and the 'pier' was the bridge you cross over the creek as you drive in, the only buffalo we saw were the ones on the side of the road driving to the location that other people owned and I saw 1 small deer, and the only trail I walked was the one I made myself. It was not what we expected but will do for someone who wants to pay a price for a place to sleep at night and keep their luggage but would NOT do for more than 2 people. A family could not stay in these cabins. Breakfast was good and they supplied you with the things needed to eat but there is not a menu to choose from or a designated time you get it. We could have gotten more for our money at another business. The view's were pretty but you had to walk out of the trees to see it from our cabin and the residence where the owenrs stay has a lot of vehicle parts...
Read moreWe really enjoyed being here and would stay again but not in the particular cabin we were in. The view of the sunset was stunning, the horses let you pet them, the chickens loved following you around, and the cattle would let you touch them as well. It was far enough from town to be out in the open and the quiet but close enough that we could get to town quickly if needed. Our cells didn't work much but for us it wasn't a problem. The cottage was adorable and the bed was so nice. We would sit outside on the small couches to read and it was wonderful. Breakfast was very good (although one day they forgot to give us utensils but I'm sure they would have fixed that if we had mentioned it, by chance I had plastic ones with our gear seeing how camping was on our trip as well so we didn't bother them) she even let me pick the time that they brought it to us. I should have taken a picture of it because it was so pretty on its silver tray and had little orange juices. We loved staying here but the reason we wouldn't stay in Sophie's Cottage again is the lack of a restroom door. We were on our honeymoon and despite having lived together for 4 years it wasn't the time to start using the restroom in front of each other. It did have a curtain but it was see through and pointless. The cabin was too small to not have a door. I figure it might be lack of space which prompted them to not have one but I think with a bit of thought it could work. If the other building/cabin has a restroom door I would love to stay...
Read moreThis cabin was perfect for my husband and I. The fishing cabin; my husband was excited about the idea of a fishing cabin but was disappointed when we seen the creek, it was dry. The cabin was definitely fishing orientate though. My first thought when I drove up to it was SMALL; but it was decorated amazingly. The best things in life come in small package, like me! I took pictures right away. My husband showed up shortly after with a smile on his face. During our stay it was peaceful, secluded, and hidden. Just what we like. My favorite part of the interior was the bed, it was up in a loft and comfy. One thing about those stairs, they should of widened the steps. I loved the way it was built, cedar log cabin. I am really glad my husband's plan didn't pan out cause I ended up finding The Last Outpost. Thanks for the much needed...
