My fiance, myself, and our two children stayed in the "little cabin" this week. The reality of this adorable little cabin far exceeded my expectation. The photos & the description on the website simply do not do it justice! The cabin is across the street from the campgrounds ... you'll have a nice private driveway that leads you up to a tiny little cabin tucked into a nice little private wooded area while still being close enough to walk across the road to the creek. This level of privacy was a huge unexpected perk for our little family. The kitchen had a great mini fridge (the freezer even kept our popsicles frozen!), two burner stove, sink, microwave, a TV with local channels and a DVD player, and board games for the family to play. -The little cabin has awesome hot water & water pressure (may not matter to most - but again, a pleasant surprise) That adorable little loveseat in the living room folds out into a twin size bed. Others have noted that you cannot move around once it's open. This really isn't the case - yes it's tight but you can walk around the pull out pretty easily - get in and out of the fridge without a problem...etc. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the cabin had a heat / AC unit in it. -WiFi varied - I didn't have any reception on my phone and the WiFi was hit or miss. My partner however was able to send/receive texts and stream netflix. Our favorite part was behind the cabin! My fiance brought his guitar, the kids brought toys and we spent a lot of time back there letting them play, enjoying the air, BBQing and just enjoying the property. Maxine - the owner - is SO sweet. She kept in contact leading up to our booking and she met us to get us all checked in and she's available at all times if you need anything during your stay in the cabin. if I had to say something negative about the property it would be that there are crickets - more than I was comfortable with - that come out in the cabin at night to say hello...they're quiet but one jumped on me. I'm the only one in my family who was bothered by this and I chop it up to the "roughing it" portion of camping in an adorable little cabin...hardly something to complain about. We really had a wonderful time and will definitely be back!! (Note: in the one picture I'm posting you'll see an air purifier - this doesn't come with the cabin!! I always travel with our air purifier and a bottle...
Read moreWe just stayed at the cabin and had a wonderful time. Maxine adds a very personal touch, which is refreshing. I was worried because she didn't take me cc to hold the cabin but it worked out just fine and I didn't have to give out my cc number to yet another person.
The cabin is darling but extremely tiny. We had 2 children with us and it was a bit of a challenge. The love seat in the living area folds out to a twin bed but it takes up the entire room. There is literally NO floor space anywhere to put a pallet down for our other child. We managed, though.
The back cookout area is spacious but a bit overgrown around the built in seats. Luckily, we brought our own chairs.
If you're planning on staying bring your own condiments because there is only salt and pepper there. You may also want to bring dish soap and a sponge.
We visited in July and didn't even need the AC because the cabin is nicely shaded and airflow through it is sufficient. The location is convenient to Banner Elk and not far from Boone either.
In all we were very pleased with our stay and highly...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed in the cabin for a few nights and really enjoyed our stay. The cabin is pretty small but it is perfect for just two people. It was very clean and the sheets ad linens were all spotless too. Maxine was there to greet us and she was wonderfully helpful and friendly. Unlike a lot of other cabins in the area she doesn't tack a big "cleaning fee" onto the cost of your stay. One thing people should be aware of is that the bed is very small. Its wonderfully comfortable but small. My husband and I are both average weight and so the size didn't bother us at all but had we been much bigger it could have made for some uncomfortable nights. The only down side was that there is not a door on the front porch. It is screened in but there is no screen door to stop the bugs coming in. I wanted to have the cabin door open for more fresh air while I was cooking but couldn't do so without letting the bugs in. It also would have been nice to sit on the porch in the evening but I seem to attract every mosquito within a 20 miles radius so I was unable to...
