Big Dog Fishing Charters — Hotel in Barataria

Such an incredible day! Two co-workers and I were coming down to New Orleans for WEFTEC and found out that we had one free day to spare so we decided to plan a fishing trip. After searching the internet we found that Big Dog had the most reasonable rates so we decided to go with them. They absolutely exceeded our expectations. Captain Chris was very professional and knowledgeable about the area. He put us right on the fish and we had a blast. There was a period of about half an hour where we were all just yanking them out of the water every couple of seconds. We almost had a double header! We even pulled in a big sheep head, catfish, a crab, and two stingrays! Afterwards, Chris cleaned our fish, bagged all the fillets we could eat and boated us over to Bouttes restaurant where they fried up OUR fish! It was delicious! Great experience!! At booking, Susan does an excellent job communicating all the details. We had storms our first day and had to cut our trip short, but Captain Dave did everything possible to dodge the storms and still catch some fish. Just too bad to stay out long as the storms moved in and intensified. Second day we had great weather and Chad had us on the reds quickly! Caught our limit in about 2.5 hours and caught and released a lot more afterwards. Third day we had Alden for an afternoon trip with more bad weather moving in. Let me start by saying what an incredible two days of fishing we had. On day one the weather wasn't exactly cooperative and yet we still had a great day and caught fish. Day two, unbelievable! I have fished literally all my life and I've had both good and bad Charter captains. Chad and Barry are both top-notch Captains that I would recommend to anyone in a heartbeat. My two friends, both of whom are from out of state, were absolutely blown away by the natural beauty of Louisiana and the incredible two days of fishing we had.
