Atlantic Shore Pines Campground is clean with well maintained facilities such as their office, store, snackbar, pool, playgrounds, mini-golf, music pavillion and game room. Their staff, which is appropriately sized for this large operation, is friendly and helpful, and you can tell they take a great deal of pride in their work and responsibilities. The maintenance equipment is new and top-notch. The campground is nestled in the Jersey Pines away from busy road noise. They seem to have taken some reviews to heart and do enforce Quite Time and attempt to control rowdy campers. ||||So, you may ask why I could not rate it a full 5 Stars. One is the showers, which many campers must rely on due to the majority of transient sites not having sewer/grey-water connections. There are no mixing valves to regulate the temperature of the water. There are pull-chains where the water flow is Off or On - no in between, and it can be scalding. I'm not sure how they have gotten away with not having mixing valves, but I would highly recommend they install them before someone is seriously burned by hot water. The second reason is their power poles do not display the campsite numbers as they do in most any other campground - especially where there are no natural or man-made divisions between sites. All weekend myself and other campers were milling around wondering where the water and electric connections were for the campsites they were assigned. How hard would it be to paint or stick numbers on the poles to avoid confusion?||||The third and most important reason is that the owners/managers here are ridiculous when it comes to tree trimming. They avoid it at all costs even though any tree expert will agree that trimming lower branches doesn't harm a tree, but actually promotes better growth to the upper part of the tree. This is a real shame in that they have spacious sites with 50amp electrical service that invites and caters to larger motorized and towable RVs which can range from $80,000 to over $250,000. The path to my water and electric conection poles was blocked by low-hanging, low-growing branches over an inch in diameter (plenty big enough to cause serious damage to the fiberglass and aluminum skins most RVs have), but also by sapling trees growing out the base of existing tree roots and trunks. One of them caused damage to two of my compartment doors, entrance door and slide room exterior walls which will end up costing me hundreds of dollars to repair even with Insurance coverage. That same sapling tree prevented me from extending my awning as I was backup up as far as I could be to the water connection pole, but was still hemmed in by the sapling. The manager came to view the damage and my concerns, and told me that I should have parked in the middle of the site - more than 30 feet away from the connection poles. That simply is not done since running hoses and wires across the ground is not only a trip-hazard, but also risks damage to those hoses and wires. The campground asks that we respect their property and facilities, so it only natural to expect they would do the same for their paying guests. The average 5th Wheel Trailer and Class A motorhome are often 12' to 13.5 ' in height. Low thick branches not only tear the rubber roofs, but also damage antenna systems, vent covers, air conditioner cowls and other roof-mounted items. Even leaving the campground, avoiding the pine tree branches near the exit side of the guard shack forced me dangerously close to hitting the guard shack. There is no reason for this. Trimming the branches to reduce or eliminate damage to their guests' RVs is in no way bad for the environment. But it is bad for business when an otherwise wonderful camping experience is marred by expensive damage to an RV the owner paid a lot of hard-earned money to own and keep...
Read moreCould not recommend this campground highly enough.
We were there for the 4th of July weekend, and from the moment we arrived, to the second we left, the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating and made us feel like we were a part of their family. Furthermore, the seasonal campers were welcoming and kind - not at all snobby or pretentious like you find at some campgrounds.
There is an action-packed schedule that offers fun activities for campers of all ages on offer for those looking to stay on the campground (as well as a pool, splash pad/water park, mini golf, basketball and volleyball courts, as well as many more). This is especially great for kids!
And for those looking to venture out, there are tons of beautiful beaches, boardwalks, and other activities all within a reasonable drive. The staff are more than happy to help you plan out your trip, if needed, as well. (We, for example, inquired about fireworks in the area and were directed towards the most BEAUTIFUL fireworks' show I've ever seen in a town a bit farther away that we would never have found on our own). They also borrow out beach tags to the nicer beaches so you don't have to pay for the $7 day pass. If you go early on in the day, you are sure to be able to get some (we managed to get tags for both Sat and Sun on a very busy weekend).
There is a great convenience store with flexible hours and anything you could possibly need while camping. This is great in the event that you forget something (in my case, conditioner). There's also a grill/snack bar with great food at reasonable prices. (If you're there on Sunday, be sure to get the all-you-can-eat pancakes for only $2. Some of the fluffiest flapjacks you'll ever eat!)
The entire grounds is incredibly clean and the bathroom is no exception. I, personally, have never seen such a clean bathhouse at a campground...I would have felt comfortable showering barefoot, even. And the water was piping hot for all of my showers, save for two minutes of the first one I took (because it was later in the day and many other people were showering at that time). I, personally, had no problem with the chains that need to be pulled down - especially when I realized they could be latched to the shower so you don't have to hold them.
There is a great ambiance and livelihood at this campground that I loved as it created the possibility to form new friendships and carve out unique and unexpected experiences (one of which being slow-dancing in the light of our headlights early one evening to a song being played at a campsite nearby - so romantic!) That being said, quiet time is quiet time and is well-enforced in a way that enables people to have a great time without disturbing others.
I could go on, and on, and on, raving about this place...but the long and the short of it is that I would rather be returning to it than writing about it and you should be driving to it instead of reading about it!
(And as someone who was there for the same weekend as the woman who offered up the previous melodramatic, entitled, incorrigible, as well as slightly racist review, and witnessed her exchange with the owners, I can tell you that she was, indeed, offered another campsite, but was upset that she would have had to relocate again each night of her stay. But this is only because the sites were pre-booked for the holiday weekend and the campground was busier than usual! Her money was not refunded because she refused the offer and left of her own free-will, despite the fact that the staff did everything they could to try to quell her ludicrous...
Read moreWe definitely enjoyed our stay at Atlantic Shore Pines. As a family of 8 we sometimes find it difficult to find accommodations, but the staff here were very helpful and we had a great time. We also have a HUGE rig and they were able to fit us in no problem. We stayed here for a week or more, over a holiday, and had a great time. We were a little worried that the noise from the weekend holiday visitors would get out of hand and run late into the night, but to our surprise, as soon as the clock hit quiet time the park became silent. It was actually very impressive! Due to our own late booking we ended up having to move multiple times during our stay and each site we stayed in was great. One thing to keep in mind is that this is an RV Campground, not an RV Resort. It has great amenities, but the sites and the roads are not paved and may not be perfectly level. This is in the woods, there is a lot of sand, and nature is all over. If you require a perfectly paved site with perfectly manicured trees and landscaping this isn't the place for you. This place is clean and well maintained, but it's in the forest so don't expect differently.
Why not 5 stars? Okay, so this is tough because we really enjoyed this park, but we are full-time nomadic so we're at RV parks every day and try to be as non-bias as possible and put all parks on an equal rating system and although we aren't leaving 5 stars, we do plan on coming back to this campground because it is a great campground! That said, we did not love the shower facilities at all, they were clean for the most part, but to operate the shower you have to hold a pull chain which means our kids couldn't operate the showers at all. It also made for some difficult showering. This was the biggest drawback to this campground. The wifi and internet was also not ideal which normally isn't a problem for us because we use starlink, but being in the woods our starlink wasn't able to get a clear signal either.
Ultimately, we'll be back because this was overall a nice facility and we enjoyed the...
