So we’re camping here right now (6/4/18) We are from Missouri and camp often at Mo state parks. I feel like a pro/con list will be better to read than blathering on...(LOWER LAKE CAMPING) PRO INEXPENSIVE GORGEOUS SHADE TREES ALL PAVED SITES LAKE VIEWS CLOSE TO STORES AND SITES GREAT BEACH AREAS MOST HAVE POWER WATER AND SEWER
RANGERS AND STAFF VERY NICE (even though they seemed like they would like to see this campground live up to its potential...Mississippi needs to allocate funds to get this park up to par with JP Coleman at Pickwick lake) . Con Only allowed to swim at beach not from our campsite (were at site 287 RIGHT ON THE WATER - NO SWIMMING ALLOWED SIGN)
Power was off and on in different parts of entire camp site
Most of campground bathrooms (THE ONES THAT DID WORK WERE CLEAN AND STOCKED) were out of order. So out of 4 bath/shower houses 2 are in working order other than having no power.
Weather wonderful - Memphis and Oxford were great visit. Ole’ Miss so close you can taste it! COME ON MISSISSIPPI!!! You’ve got an awesome camp ground if you would give it some TLC!! 287’s cement picnic table is top less FYI and cramped but you do get lake views and able to fish close...

We've been coming here for many years and they definitely have a new crew caring for this campground. They have been cutting grass, blowing the sites off and raking the playground since we got here on Wednesday. The site host and rangers have stopped, spoke and been very friendly!! The only reason I didn't do 5 stars is because there is still only 1 bath house available but the staff did express that is in the works to be repaired soon. Im excited to see such improvements because after the tornados this campground seemed to go down quite a bit. But this staff is doing a...

The campground was nice. But the park ranger that was working didnt seem to want to enforce rules. We rented a site for 3 nights /3 days. On our 2nd day we left our site and when we returned the campers in the sight next to us had their vehicles parked on our site. When we said something to the ranger he tried to act like it was no big deal. It is stated only 2 cars per site. They had a camper, 2 trucks , a car and a boat. The ranger tried to make excuses for them. I dont want to hear excuses. I paid for the sight NOT them! Other then that I have...
