We have had a permanent site there for the past four years. It was a lovely campground when we first moved in. Over the past couple of years , it seems that Maintenance of the campground has went down hill. The roads are falling apart, One of the pools has been out of commission since last summer. The other pool is now out of commission and not open. The playground equipment is falling apart and not safe for the children to play on it. They have it boarded up.
I know things happen and equipment will break and need repairs. Though the lack of repairs is what's concerning.
The closing of bathhouses has caused many concerns. During a very tumultuous tornado season, this was a very scary situation as those bathhouses are the only safe place to shelter. Thankfully a member of staff stays at camp and was able to open them up in an emergency. However, having only 2 bath houses open for the entire campground is quite ridiculous. We've been told that the other bathhouses should be open on the weekends and recently 2 other houses have been locked during the weekends. As you know, we have over 900 sites...with access to 2 bathrooms.THis is not acceptable.
I urge you to take a look at the management at this park. We cannot get anyone to answer phones, it sometimes takes multiple times to get emails answered ( getting charged late fees because you can't pay your bill). There are A LOT of unhappy people at this park, and if nothing changes i believe there will be a lot of members leaving. It's also been suggested that perhaps that's the point all along because membership gets a bonus for signing new members, not caring about the ones you already have. True or not, I believe your amount of people discontinuing their leases and membership is going to be significant this year, and it's due to lack of amenities and no communication or negative communication from management.
We all enjoy coming here and love the campground friends we have made. But with it falling apart and no maintenance being done to fix anything its becoming quite concerning. Read moreI have never written a review on one of the Thousand Trails sites that I have stayed at. However, this campground (Thousand Trails Indian Lakes) is so bad it has prompted me to write a review. We make our reservations six months in advance and when I get here, they assign me to a campsite without full hookups. On top of that, the site we were assigned was occupied and the ranger on duty told us to just find another site and occupy it. I have stayed at some bad Thousand Trails RV camps in the five years that I have had membership but nothing has spurred me to write a review like this poorly managed campground. I probably would have let it go but the same thing happened to me two years ago. The only reason I made another reservation here is that friends have told us that they have improved with the opening of the new sections. It appears however, if you come during the busy time, Thousand Trails members are shunted off to the old, rundown, no sewer section. It appears that they save the newer sections for paying customers. If you want to come to this area, I suggest you stay at the Thousand Trails in Ohio. It is only an hour and a half away and they don't treat you like second class citizens. Thousand Trails has gone to a reserved site system that I assume takes the size of your RV and hookup requirements. I find it hard to believe that so many reservations came in before us (again, made the reservation six months our) that the only thing available was where we were assigned. I have stayed in four other campgrounds this season, so far, and have had no trouble with the sites. I will not be coming back here and if I could get a reservation at another Thousand Trails on short notice, I would not be staying here now.
Update. I have received a reply from the owner stating that they will use my comments to improve the experience. I've looked back for at least the past four years and have seen the same complaints and the same condescending responses. I will never come...
Read more0* Stars, by far the worst and rudest service we've ever received from any establishment we've ever visited. I've never had a " supposed owner" cuss at me or any member of my family for trying to enter a facility, especially with my grandbabies in the backseat and this is supposed to be a family established vacation camping park to enjoy family time year round at this facility while they have employees or "supposed owners" such as Nicole cussing at patrons with babies in vehicles is a down right outrage. Word of mouth is the best way to destroy your reputation and your business. I've been in the service industry since my very first job at 15, I now work for Venues, word of mouth you tell 10 people of your horrible experience those 10 people tell 10 more people and the cycle continues. I understand everyone has an off day here and there, but you leave that at the door the minute you get to work. Our Mother/Grandmother paid for a permanent site at this facility and is allowed to have guest. No guest or person should ever be treated, made to to feel the way we were or talked to in the manner we were spoken to by anyone, especially innocent babies to overhear such fowl language, babies just picking up words that can and will be repeated. I've traveled all over the place, stayed in hole in the wall motels and never been talked or treated so poorly. I will definitely be contacting the Better Business Burea and I will be back up to talk to a Supervisor about this incident. This establishment should not have employees working for them, representing their company, allowed to cuss at their patrons with babies in their vehicles and especially without just cause, customer service is severely lacking at this facility and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
