As parks go this is a great park with awesome shores ,fishing and beach. The roads and camp sites r very narrow, we had a hard time making turns in this campground and getting our 33' camper into the site because trees r so close to the road with not enough room to get in. Then step outside into the fire pit which was with no choice less than 5 ft from the camper. It was very quiet and few people there. The campgrounds are not by the lake so bringing our kayaks was a waste of time cuz we were 3/4 of a mile from the lake. We did use our bikes and that's was the activity for us due to cool rainy weather and fire bans. We enjoy checking these places out but would only come back to swim or fish. There are many other campgrounds right in our own neighborhood that have lakeside camping and more spacious camp sites, great fishing n swimming too. So why drive 2 hours when the best sites are...

Boating is allowed. There is a beautiful beach. Kanoe and kayakers alike can paddle Lake of the Woods. If you like to explore, make sure you go and see the Zippel Homestead. Read moreSince there hasn't been a review in almost half a year, I'll give some details on the park's condition as of 6/30/22. The lake is beyond full, and the eastern access point is totally underwater. If you want to see the lake you need to drive straight up the road. The south loop trail has some tree branches on it that you might have to work around, but other than that, you will be fine.
