I usually wait until we leave to post a review, but this place has blown me away. Itâs very unique and welcoming. The farm has been repurposed for itâs next chapter. Airbnb rentals in the house, on site owners, work campers here to help as well. There are less than twenty sites at this time. Community fire pit, garden to peruse and pick from, acre and a half(!!) dog park, nice bathhouse including small laundry room and store for merch. The wildflowers are beautiful. They recycle. You can leave your scraps in a bucket for the chickens if you like. They had the a local shop class build the picnic tables and fire pit chairs. They are truly building a sustainable community. Itâs a joy to see and be a part of for a time. There is no office here, which seemed odd to me at first, but their personal service has nailed it. They gave us our site at reservation, just pull in. Two people greeted us quickly but briefly to let us know we were in the right spot and they were available. Then they gave us time to settle in before returning to give us the full rundown. So considerate and also shows they know what itâs like to pull in after a long day of driving. We are enjoying the peace and quiet of country life. In spot 1 we have a lot of privacy in our sitting area. They picked the proper name for the place! The fireflies are beautiful in the evening and a treat. We have such a big rig we are always on top of the roads in and out. The last road from the highway is definitely a little challenge but the passing cars were quick to pull over and help us out. We had no problem getting in and to our spot. My husband is a pro though, so beginners beware and take your time. It will be worth it when you arrive to this little piece of Heaven. Our purpose for the visit is to ride our motorcycle through the mountains and we are thrilled with the location. Thirty miles (ish) south of the Red River gorge and the Eye of the Dragon loop. So much to see here. Weâre excited for the rest of our stay and will definitely keep this gem on our list for the future. You will have no highway noise here, just the hounds down the road protecting you in the night. Stop by, enjoy,...
Read moreI stayed in one of the RV's on the location. Initially, it was a good experience. It was a bit far from the majority of Red River Gorge's experiences, but I knew that when booking.
I was greeted and given a tour and run through of the RV I was staying in, which was nice. After the tour my girlfriend and I started putting our things away.
This is when we found mouse poop at the head of the bed. We pushed this off as a fluke and perhaps it was missed when they were cleaning, so we slept there that night. On night two, I was woken up by the sound of mice running through the headboard of the bed and gnawing on things.
When we woke up, we went to make breakfast in the outdoor kitchen, but that didn't work... so we went inside to make breakfast and found more mouse droppings by the sink. At this point we were frustrated. We were preparing to head out for the day and found that a mouse had gone through my backpack and eaten food that was in the backpack and saw a mouse run through the RV.
We decided we were going to leave and not stay the extra night that we paid for. When speaking with the owners, they did offer us a room in their house, but we did not want to stay in a communal space.
Upon a request for a refund on the night that we didn't stay, we were told no, due to being offered other accommodations, which was true.
All in all, not a great experience and would...
Read moreLovely camp ground. Fire fly hills is 15 sites the grounds are very well kept. Roads are clear and well graveled. Sites are level and all are full hookups! So easy to get set up, hook ups are perfectly located when you back in. My site had a beautiful rock garden just behind a large picnic table. There are walking trails and a big community fire pit area. Great play areas for kids including a mud pie kitchen đ. The full grounds are a very nice place for kids to ride bikes and chase fire flies. Now! Let me rave about the tiny store and laundry area!!! And the bathroom/showers. SPOTLESS, No REALLY! Absolutely spotless, with heated floors. I have never showered in a public shower that I didn't have to scrub first, but this one was so clean. It didn't feel like a public shower at all more like a spa bath. WOW. What a treat. The owners are the sweetest and most kind folks ever. So helpful with everything. They are so inviting I felt like I was visiting friends. They also have rooms to rent in the big white farmhouse on the property. The weekend I was there yoga and massage was offered to all guest. BTW the price was quite reasonable as well. Don't miss this little hidden gem! I couldn't think of a single thing they could have...
