I was here on a RECON MISSION 🪖 for my Brothers. Needed to scope out the cabins and surrounding areas for possible future family visits. Our annual space at Highpoint State Park was already booked for the year, and all the cabins at Stokes State Forest were being renovated. I booked CABIN 3 for a two(2) night stay during the work week(Monday thru Wednesday). The campgrounds are an absolute gem. I'm sure they'll be mesmerizing during the fall season. I recorded a quick walkthrough of the cabin and was pleasantly surprised by how clean the entire space was. I dropped my gear and took a short walk down to Lake Nockamixon. There were boaters 🛶 ⛵️ on the water, fishermen, and the tree 🌳🌳 line was magnificent. After taking in some breathtaking views, I returned to the cabin to unpack. Three(3) bedrooms with room for eight(8) comfortably. Hot and cold water, electric outlets throughout, new full size refrigerator, stove with oven, and a microwave. The bathroom 🚻 was a nice size with heat, a toilet, and a shower 🚿. The living room area had a couch and two(2) comfortable easy chairs. In the kitchen was a meal area with a few chairs, a bench, and a table that had space for at least six(6). There is plenty of empty cabinet space, so don't forget your utensils, pots, pans, and other kitchen essentials. I went outside to build a fire 🔥. The camp office doesn't sell wood but we are allowed to collect tinder and kindling in the surrounding area. I had to purchase firewood 🪵 locally, on Ridge Rd.(Rt.563), only 7 minutes. from the campsite. Ten(10) decent pieces of fuel for five dollars($5). I cooked and ate dinner 🍽 😋 🍔 🌭 then returned to the lake with my folding chair to catch the sunset 🌇. It was absolutely amazing. I walked back and added a few more pieces to the firepit/grill. It was a clear starry night 🌙 and I just sat by the crackling campfire soaking up the sounds of the forest. After a few hours of relaxing and stoking the fire 🔥 I turned in for the night 😴. Make sure you bring your own sheets, pillows, sleeping bags, etc... The rest of my stay was filled with taking pictures, videos 📹, hiking, and reconnecting with nature. I had an overwhelming sense of tranquility and serenity during the evenings. Unfortunately, there were renovations being done during the daytime at cabin 4. The sounds of the work being done were a bit distracting and disappointing 😞. I almost forgot to mention that there was a children's playground just a short walk from the cabin that looked fun and adventure friendly. Overall, I had a wonderful experience, and I plan to return with family and...
Read moreWe stayed at a deluxe dog friendly cabin with internal bathroom(walk in shower) and two bedrooms. One bedroom has a full size bed, the other has two sets of bunk beds with twin mattresses. There is enough space in the main room to squeeze in an inflatable queen. There is a couch and a cushioned chair, a small microwave, a 4 burner electric stove/oven, a full size fridge freezer, a ceiling fan in the main room. The porch will fit a few chairs in the rain. It's an easy walk to the lake edge but there isn't a beach. The cabins are across the lake from the marina, pool, picnic grounds, boat rental. We brought our tandem kayak and launched near the cabins and locked it up to a tree on the trail below cabin 3. There is an outdoor picnic table, fire pit and park stand-style Bbq. Both the BBQ and fire pit have adjustible cast iron grilling grates. The cabin DOES NOT HAVE A FIRE PLACE OR POT BELLY STOVE but there is electric baseboard heating and water heater. It's twenty minutes to Walmart, Giant, TJMaxx, Harbor Freight in Quakertown. There is a beverage store up the road beyond the spillway and a small grocery and icecream place on the Eastern side of the lake. We have LTE cell phone service at the cabin through Sprint. Haven't made a call but we were able to check the cat cam back home, instagram, news and...
Read moreBeen going there for years. The state has started some upgrades and improvements. Our cabin had all new screens and a new kitchen table. My sister-in-law's cabin had the above and new kitchen flooring. So there are no surprises the cabin comes with: bathroom with shower, two or three bedrooms (beds but no bedding), living room with I believe one couch and two chairs (no TV, internet, or sound system), kitchen area (stove, microwave, full size refrigerator, sink with running water). No pots, dishes, utensils, etc. The cabin does not have air conditioning. We use sleeping bags for bedding. Having been tent campers we have camp kitchen supplies. I'm also able to use paracord to rig a fan blowing out the kitchen window thereby drawing in cool evening air from the bedrooms, if the doors are left cracked.
It's all about family time. Eating dinners outdoors. Campfires every night. The park to play in during the...
