General Impression: Quiet, scenic campground. A little tight for big rigs but worth the effort. Cost $14.00 Value: We feel it’s worth the value.

Campground: This campground doesn’t have a lot of frills or amenities but it does have big personality. Campsite # 007 Our campsite was a gravel pull-thru site with desert grass and sand. It was level left to right, but needed a little leveling front to back. No hookups, this is dry camping. We did have a picnic table and grill, but no fire ring. They have potable water refill, but no dump station or propane so definitely #fillerup and #leterrip before you hit the road. Wifi No shocker here, there is no wifi. Verizon was very limited reception and Starlink was also a bit spotty because of the shade trees for this campground. We had some buffering during streaming.

Noise Level: This was, by far, the quietest campground we’ve probably been in for a while. No road noise, no train noise, occasionally wildlife noises – I heard an owl one evening. Amenities: They have pit toilets, but no showers or plumbing. Dumpsters at entrance and trash cans located near pit toilets. No laundry, pool, or playground at this location.

Dog friendly: They are dog friendly, but pets are limited to areas where cars can go. No pickup stations or off leash areas. They ask for you to pay special attention not to let your pets irritate the wildlife and Kayl truly enjoyed her dog-ertainment from inside the truck. Camp store: None and limited access to a convenience store in town. Do your grocery shopping before you get here. Camp staff interactions: Not a ton of interactions with the camp staff because we made our reservations online, but all the rangers we saw were friendly. Additional info: The park collects a separate park entrance fee of $30 per vehicle. It’s good for 7 days. The park also honors Federal Interagency passes – which can save you a bit of money if you’re planning...

We just spent 4 nights at Cottonwood with our Jayco 29RKS. Such beauty!! From the buttes, to the river, to the bison and wild horses . Gorgeous area to camp & visit . The campground hosts are so friendly and helpful (thank you Barb & Monica ) . Generators are allowed but rarely used . It’s quiet , serene , and a slice of heaven. Campers with larger rigs (28 feet +) should know that there are only about a dozen sites that will comfortably work taking into consideration awnings and slide outs. We made a reservation in advance for site 33 but it was just too small for our camper & tow vehicle . The hosts kindly found us another option- site 44. At first we were concerned and skeptical as it is located on asphalt and not a traditional looking site … but we ended up loving it . We had space , grassland, a butte view, and the bison even came to visit 🦬 . Medora is a darling town with a couple fun watering holes. Took in the Medora musical which was well done and enjoyable . Highly encourage others to take the time to visit the North Unit of TRNP. Worth the trip with unique and dramatic views. We also visited Elk Horn Ranch which was off the beaten track and...

We stayed here for one night. Can’t beat the price at $7! We originally booked online, but when we got there , the park attendant said we could drive around and pretty much pick out any spot that said open. He gave us a payment envelope and said we didn’t have to pay since we already had, but just use the form inside to label our spot. Then said to let him know which we went with, so he could open up our previous spot.

We lucked out with site 18! It’s a pull-thru that’s a short walk to the bathroom and right next to a potable water spout. Some of the sites are quite small and I’m not sure our RV would have fit.

Some spots are reservable online and others are first come first served. We loved the flexibility the campsite offered in picking spots.

Restrooms were clean (no showers). There were walking paths from each campsite to one. The spots were pretty private from each other with the foliage. We had neighbors in the spots next to us, but couldn’t see them.

For the price, this place cannot be beat! Close proximity to the park, privacy, and spectacular views.

For RVers - there are no hookups, so you have to boondock. Generators can be run...
