If you are looking for a quiet getaway and some healing or rejuvenating, this is the place. For one, it sits atop one of the most spectacular canyons in the North Dakota Badlands. You won’t even need to go to the national park to experience the beauty and wonder of the area. There are plenty of views to see and hikes to take around the cabin itself. Secondly, the owner, Roger, is a very kind and gracious host who deeply cares about making your stay in the Badlands an enriching experience. He has created an amazing retreat. Our stay here was all-around food for the soul!

Such comfortable and unique lodging in a beautiful setting! We loved our stay on The Edge, literally on the edge of a canyon. Waking up to see the sunrise over the canyon and mule deer just outside our window, working in a quiet space with great WiFi, hiking several miles on the property, and incredible stargazing at night were some of the highlights of our stay. Roger is an attentive and friendly host. We’re so glad we found this gem so close to Theodore Roosevelt National Park!

Staying at Rogers house was the gem on our dad trip my best friend and I take every year with our dads. The peace and tranquility that is present at Spirit of the Badlands is unparamount. Roger gave us excellent recommendations on planning our time at the north and south units of the park as well as Medora.

I took my boys for a hiking trip at Teddy Roosevelt national park. I needed a place that could house 5 of us. When I looked around in Medora I found that I would need two hotel rooms. Spirit of the Badlands proved to be a much better value than that and easily had room for all five of us. The location overlooks the Dakota national grasslands and it feels like you are living at the National Park. It comes with a kitchen, a world class view, and a beautiful gym with free weights for working out. We hiked extensively at the national park but also at the grounds of the house. We definitely...

We were so happy to find this place. The location of Spirit of the Badlands is amazing with absolutely beautiful views of the landscape. Also, a great base for exploring Theodore Roosevelt National Park, which was very close by. The location, though, made it feel as if we were in the park at all times. The host, Roger, was very helpful in reaching out and suggesting things to do, and also he was wonderful in helping us with an unexpected car problem that arose while there. We were so thankful for his kindness. Highly recommend this as a great place to...
