This place is special. Loved the SHR Farm house that overlooked the barn & farm animals where we stayed. Farmers Ryan & his wife Chan’e, that steward the farm, were ready available to answer all our questions, giving info about the land and coming to aid in any ask we had. The hot tub and fire pit served as a perfect invitation to enjoy the beautiful backyard holler landscape. The enormous thriving green house was a treat and gave a unique experience that kept us in smiles. Wade, one of the farm stewards, was very welcoming and kind giving us suggestions on best practices to enjoy the features of the farm. Fishing in the pond was so peaceful and we were even visited by a beautiful crane! Visually the farm is overwhelming and the opportunity to explore the balance of your sense of self just happens when you walk the trails, hear the natural cascading waters that move through the encompassing creek and visit with the farm animals. All the staff have a warm welcoming energy that exudes a deep gratitude for your visit and shared joy they have in getting to share the treasures of The Big Fork Farm with you. A must visit.

I have experienced several events at Big East Fork since early Spring including a beautiful hike in the snow, several musical events and a great conference. I love the warmth and enthusiasm of the staff and the ambiance. I look forward to my next visit.

My favorite undeveloped slice of nature. The Fork has it all. I highly recommend the nature trails or cabin rentals if you want to stay a while(especially Terrapin Station!).

Our family recently (4th of July) stayed on one of Jonathon's property's and it was a very uncomfortable experience. For starters he had doubled booked us and we found out 2 days prior to our trip. Upon reading the reviews on several different sites we should have expected this because it sounds as though this was a common occurrence. Regardless after speaking with him he did have another property that we was able to put us up in so we agreed to continue with the booking. The house we ended up staying was very large so it is good for bigger parties however if you have children I would definitely not recommend it. The house was packed full of things that were breakable and dangerous which made it very difficult to manage. The fridge was completely full of random food so we really had to work around trying to fit in our items. The house wasn't clean in general. On the first day I actually found a used condom wrapper on the floor of the room myself and my children were sleeping in.

The first day Jonathon and his wife should up and walked in the back door to confirm everything was going well. They explained there was creek we could walk through and asked if we had any questions. We could tell that they typically rented this particular house out by the room because all the rooms had extra locks on them (this comes into play later). Later that same day a random gentleman walked in the back door without asking. When we asked him what he was doing, as he headed upstairs to where our children where sleeping, he said he had to gather some of his things. Apparently he had been staying in the room with clothes on a could and a packed lunch. While it was strange that a random man walked in we tried to laugh it off. Then at one point Jonathon came back, walking right into the house without without knocking, to tell us where a trail was and to again check on us. This continued to happen and it was very uncomfortable. We finally told him that we were fine and no longer required his assistance. The following day another random man walked in and when we asked what he was doing he claimed he was "doing laundry". I asked him to leave and explained we had rented the entire house for the weekend.

They stated they have a small petting area with animals. These poor animals were in a field in awful living conditions, in my opinion.

Overall I would not recommend any of his property's. It was so uncomfortable having random people walk into a place where we had sleeping children in. No one ever knocked and at one point we literally put furniture against the doors at night because we weren't sure if they were coming in while...

I recently put together a one day workshop that we held at the Big East Fork Retreat. My experience was nothing short of exceptional. Both the retreat manager and the owner greeted me and my coworkers with friendly enthusiasm. When we arrived their housekeeping staff were finishing their cleaning of the center leaving it spotless. And the owner and manager helped me unload some very heavy musical instruments. I am so used to loading and unloading myself, this was unexpected but welcome assistance. The Retreat is located in a rural setting that is beautiful and serene. Our participants loved the grounds and the center. In all, this place is first class. In fact, I am so impressed, I'm already planning my next workshop there. Many thanks to the folks at Big East...
