Highly disappointed in the owners for not being proactive and taking down a rotten tree that was cracked up to 15 feet from the ground and leaning over the camp road. The owners risked the lives of 10 campers by assigning them sites where the campers had to walk by this tilted, split, and rotten tree daily. My first morning at the campground 7/15/19 I went into the camp store and told the lady at the front desk that this tree is clearly rotten, split, unsafe and needs to be taken down. She wrote down our site number where the tree was and a note. She said she would tell the owners. Later that night around 6pm the golf cart with one of the owners drove by our site. I waved him over and told him about the tree because visually it was about to come down and was very unsafe. His response, "It's been on the list for awhile!" Nothing happened and these 10 campers continued walking by this tree to use the restroom.
Fast forward two days to Wednesday July 17, 2019. I left my 13 year old son with the dog 50 feet from that rotted tree while I ran to the bathroom. As I was washing my hands I thought I heard it down pouring. I ran out of the bathroom into dirt blowing around in cylinder movements, tree limbs and debris falling down the wind was crazy. I came around the corner and I witnessed the ROTTED tree fall down thankfully away from our camper because my younger son was in it. I yelled to my kids to get in the camper no get in the truck. We quickly got in the truck and booked it out of the campground the other way around the circle because the tree was blocking the road now. WITH ONE BIG MICROBURST OF WIND THAT TREE CAME DOWN.
Thank god my 13 year old sons instinct kicked in and he ran through the campsite next to us and put the dog in the camper and didn’t run past the tilted rotten tree. We are thankful that no one was hurt or killed, but this NEVER WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF THE OWNERS TOOK THAT TREE DOWN PRIOR TO PUTTING ANY CAMPER IN THE VICINITY OF THAT TREE.
In the tenting section there are more dead trees (no leaves) with red dots on them. I’m assuming those trees are on their list to take down as well.
We are extremely disappointed in the owners not being proactive in this situation.
In addition to the tree, we were very frustrated that when booking the staff encouraged us to bring our dog and charged us $2 a day, but they DO NOT allow dogs to be anywhere in the campground, but the roads and their campsites. The dogs can’t go near the sports courts (shuffleboard, tennis, mini golf, basketball, horseshoes, bocce courts), pool, garden, near the rectangular gazebo office, bathrooms etc. The week we went had heat advisories pretty much all week. I asked if I could tie my dog to the tree outside the pool fence while we swam and the owners said no because I can't control him. She didn't know my dog who is well behaved and would have lied in the shade and slept because it was super hot out and he hates water. Instead, we had to put him in our popup camper in his crate with NO AC while we did any activity, swim, play shuffleboard, etc. I had to go buy a fan to put in front of his crate so he didn't overheat during the 99° days. Our 3 year old beagle spent the majority of the week in the hot camper while we swam and played checkers and shuffleboard.
I could go on and on with all the rules they have at this campground, but I’ll spare you. If you are looking for a campground with rotting picnic tables at sites, dirty bathrooms/showers, tons of rules for the pool, and no place for your pet to go, then this campground is for you. If you don't then I suggest you find a different campground.
Our biggest issues were the tilted, dead, split, rotten tree and the lack of pet accommodating activities. We dealt with everything else, knowing that WE WILL NEVER...
Read moreLast camping trip of the year!
So, the weekend before last, we decided to get in one more camping trip for this year. We were going to be traveling with extended family, so we needed two adjacent sites suitable for tents. We looked everywhere, but every campground was either closed or not taking tent campers due to COVID restrictions. That is code for we do not want to have to clean our bathrooms and public areas all the time. Then we found the Circle CG Farm and Campground in Bellingham, Mass.
We were greeted by Donna, who also took our reservation. She is a wonderful, polite, no-nonsense woman, like your mom! She was worried when we made the reservation that their tent sites would be too small for our kind of set up. She was wrong; the sites were beautiful with plenty of flat space. We were up on a hill with good drainage, and she put us within “emergency” walking distance of the bathrooms, critical for the kids, and honestly, for us older adults.
I mentioned that we were tenting. We do not just tent; we tent with 19th-century camping gear. Canvas tents and fly with no floors, candle lanterns, cooking over the fire pit. You get the picture, I’m sure. So, the most important thing is the bathrooms. We do not want to experience 19th-century bathrooms, Lol. The funny thing is that you get at a lot of campgrounds, dirty, poorly maintained. Circle CG Farm has THE BEST CAMPGROUND BATHROOMS IN THE US! Spotless clean, and heated. The building was built to last, and the interior was tiled, not with vinal but the real thing! The water was hot in the showers; I cannot say enough! Way to go, Circle CG.
Granted, it was very late in the season, and the pool and other rec areas were closed (Covid also was a factor), but for sitting around a fire and playing games at the picnic tables, this was perfect. Due to Covid, they can only use every other site, but with family on both sides, they let us spill into the middle to use the fire pit. Firewood was reasonably priced and delivered and stacked by staff.
Our only complaint was some neighbors who came in late at night and lit up our tent with their headlights while they set up and other neighbors with several very loud, active, and enthusiastic barking dogs. Neither issue was the campground's fault though the noise rules could be enforced with a bit more enthusiasm.
I highly recommend the Circle CG Farm and Campground and suggest you give them a try. We will be back next...
Read moreI arrived late at night, around midnight. There was someone available to talk me through a permanent pull through space to park my RV in the middle of the night. In the morning ( I will find out his name) was so helpful in getting my RV parked and hooked up (I'm a first timer, so I was clueless). The guy was so patient! He helped me get my car off the trailer and the trailer off the RV. They were able to store it for a fee, which is totally fair. I've lived there for 2.5 wks of my 3 mo stay. They've been wonderful and friendly always. It really is nice to have some quiet weekends and some rambunctious ones. They are very pet friendly which is a winner since I know many travel nurses have had to give up Boston Children's due to not being able to find housing that accepts pets. Everyone walks on a leash consistently. This is a great place. It is well maintained, it is gated, and they know everyone who comes to camp/ live here. The farm is currently updating their sewage system. The showers are great and the water stays on for 30 minutes! (no holding a button with one hand and bathing with the other). The gardens are well kept and beautiful. People care what their sites look like and the spots are huge. I was so worried that I'd be spitting distance from my neighbor, but I have excellent tree coverage and am far away enough not to hear what is going on in the RV next to me. Having sewage at my site is awesome because I don't have to drive to dump. Also, I hear they bring large propane tanks to help make sure your heat doesn't go out in the middle of the night. So far this place has been great and full of...
