TLDR - Overall bad experience. False information on website. Loud group outside on Patio until the wee hours of the night.
I arrived at the location and the staff was super helpful and accommodating. The rooms are clean and what I was expecting. I read the description online and it stated that the Inn had a restaurant and bar. There is a "New" restaurant so the pictures of the food are from the "Old" restaurant. Menu is very limited. The food may be fantastic, but I was looking forward to the ribeye that was pictured and reviewers were swooning over. There is absolutely not a full service bar on site as the website indicates. I went to bed and fell asleep. About 10:30 - 11 or so I woke up to several women loudly talking. They would be done shortly I told myself. Figured they were on the way to their room. False(Dwight Schrute). I looked out my window and there was a group of about 15 people below on the patio right below my room. I called the front desk and complained. I know...I know. This did not help. I am sure that the front desk person said something, but these people simply did not care. They remained outside on the patio until close to 1am. Quiet times are posted as 10pm-9am. There were 15 of them and 1 of me. I understand why they were allowed to break the rules and ruin my experience. I didn't pay for the Ritz-Carlton, but the website set expectations that simply were not true. The staff was super friendly and accommodating except for enforcing their posted rules. I hate to ding them. The website...
Read moreFirst, let me say that I have stayed at the Benham Inn many, many times, It has been our 'go to' place any time we are in Harlan County or just passing through. I always make my reservations a year or more in advance. I never had an issue until my stay on October 10-11th. The reservation was made over a year ago. I confirmed my reservation for a room downstairs twice in the last few months and was assured my room would be waiting on me. I always reserve RM# 1931 because it is downstairs by the back door because my husband and I both have issues with climbing stairs. The day before my arrival I got an email from the Benham Inn stating that I had cancelled my room online, which i definitely did not. I called the Inn and ask them about it,, the lady told me no, my room was still booked. When I got to the Inn On October 10th, my downstairs room had been cancelled and I was moved upstairs. All I got was, 'I'm Sorry, i don't know what happened'. Well I'm sorry too, After having to climb up and down 26 stairs several times a day, I had to see an orthopedic surgeon today who had to put injections into both my knees. If someone knew how to correctly do scheduling or would stop shifting around already booked rooms, there would not be a problem. I believe my room was given away too accommodate someone else., and that is just not good business. I would have given a 'Terrible Rating' but he rooms were very clean and the Restaurant...
Read moreMy name is Dawn and I grew up in Cumberland. I went to Benham Elementary and was so happy to see that is was redesigned into the Benham Inn. I come and visit family a lot and stay there since it is the only place to stay. The reason I have given a two star rating is every night I have stayed the beds are terrible and there is not much to choose from for breakfast in the morning. I stayed there last night with my daughter 2/29/20 in room 1942 and those beds were so hard and cheap that we could actually feel the springs in the mattress. And every room I stay in the mattress is always hard. And my room did not have a microwave or a hair dryer. My suggestion to the owner is that if you are going to charge over hundred dollars a night for a room to maybe invest in thick memory foam mattress covers for each of the beds. It would be a cheaper option than buying new mattresses. And add some more food options for your continental breakfast. My experience last night was not good at all because I did not sleep well because of the mattress and the muffins you had out had mold on them. So I feel like I lost $107 that I paid to stay there. I hope I get a response. Thank you...
