Greatly enjoyed our stay at this bed and breakfast! It is close to Berea (~15 minutes), but in a very nice and peaceful, quiet setting. The property and house are gorgeous. Loved the historic details in the house. We enjoyed Berea-plenty of cool shops, beautiful campus, and the pinnacles nearby are a great hike with beautiful views. Innkeeper and owners were very friendly and hospitable, ready to give us great recommendations and checked in regularly to make sure everything was okay, but gave us our space. This place has so many extra perks as well--they got the firepit going for us, gave us some tastings of their home-brewed beer, and even a nightcap of bourbon if you wanted. And the breakfast was delicious (eggs benedict, fruit, and pumpkin bread), the innkeeper did a wonderful job! We stayed in the Miller room, which I would highly recommend (although I'm sure the other rooms are lovely as well). The room had a beautiful renovated bathroom and a very comfortable chaise, and the bed was very comfortable. Overall, could not have asked for a better place to stay and would highly recommend! We hope to come back...
Read moreThe Denny House property includes they land where the old fort once stood and the lick for the which the town and creek are named Paint Lick. My Guthrie ancestors were original owners of the area likely staying in the fort. The house is incredible with its Antebellum pillars, grand staircase, parlor, dining room, and bedrooms. Our rooms were upstairs overlooking the front yard. My room was the Miller Station room with its comfortable 4 poster bed, fireplace, and wonderful bathroom. We took Southern Belle photos, strolled down to the barn and creek, enjoyed bourbon in the parlor, and had a great time trying beers with the owner, Mark while learning about the history of the area and touring the grounds. Breakfast of Eggs Benedict, blueberry muffins, fruit, orange juice, tea, coffee, etc. was delicious being created and served by Vicky. The hospitality was through the roof. Great place for photos, weddings, anniversaries, or a weekend getaway. We had a remarkable time and would go back in a heartbeat! I highly suggest staying at the Denny House...
Read moreThis was my second stay at Denny House, and it was as good as I remembered. Vicky, the manager, is efficient, friendly, and an excellent cook – the breakfast is superb and the presentation is elegant. Muffins for the road were an extra treat. My daughter and I booked the Traveler’s Porch Room plus the Hidden Room, which allowed us to have separate bedrooms quite affordably while sharing the en suite bath of the former. The private porch was a delightful place to watch the sunset, while the grounds offer a lovely vista and an outdoor dining table perfect for a picnic dinner. The latter is recommended (we brought our own sandwich fixings) because other dining options are limited; one must drive to Berea to find a restaurant. Be aware that the manager does not live on site, and the owners are often away; thus, one may find oneself the sole overnight tenant of this lovely pre-civil war mansion, which is a truly amazing experience. Of all the B&Bs I have visited over years of road trips, Denny House remains...
