I will be very honest, I am NOT a camper. Or even a glamper. But I decided to put aside my fears and went for this Yurt experience. And boy am I glad I did!! The yurt we stayed in was so beautiful!! The furnishing, the decorations, the lighting all worked to make it feel homey, comfortable and safe. The doors lock so you don't have to worry like with a tent about your belongings. There is a sink and a stove in your yurt so you can easily make anything you need. The bath house is one word - AMAZING!! Pristine in it's cleanliness, and the amenities were wonderful. Shower had excellent water pressure, spots for all my toiletries, and changing area. Bathrooms were roomy. Electricity so I could blow dry my hair (essential for a non-camping girl like myself), it was air conditioned so it was a lovely respite from the sometimes muggy Maine summer weather. The grounds are immaculately maintained. Very welcoming and wonderful. Yes, you need to bring you own bedding, towels, etc, BUT that makes it even more homey. All in all, a wonderful experience. Unlimited firewood for our own solo stove. Propane for cooktop, coffee maker and all the other light amenities for a family of 4. Also I will say the couch is SO comfortable. We were staying as a group and we had the whole upper loop to ourselves. It was so nice to pool solo stoves and chairs in a communal area where we didn't have to worry about bothering other folks. The bath house was a dream! Clean, brand new. You can shower, wash dishes, and feel clean while glamping in the woods. We brought dogs and it was great to have walking trails around the property for them. If you love to traditionally camp, you will love not having to set up and take down equipment. It poured during our stay and at no point did we feel gross or soggy. So refreshing. This spot would be great for a family reunion, fun accommodations for a wedding or family weekend at Gould.

Read moreThis is our third trip to Western Maine Yurts, and certainly won’t be our last. We came for a 6 day stay with our five year old daughter and our dog. Though it was a very hot and humid week, the weather was made bearable by going to some of the local swimming areas. There is a small pond nearby at Angevine Park that is perfect for children, and Frenchman’s Hole and Step Falls are great options for river swimming. Hiking areas are everywhere nearby, and they have some well-kept trails on the camp property as well. The yurt was clean, comfortable, and easy to cool down with a fan in the evenings. The Bathhouse was spotless, as always, and it is so amazing to have toilets, showers, and running water nearby, especially in mid-July weather! We hope to visit again this autumn, so we can enjoy the fall foliage and crisp evenings by the fire! The owners stay in touch to make sure we have everything we need, and make the booking and trip as smooth as possible. We can’t wait to visit again. Thank you to Western Maine Yurts for the incredible...
