To all the Manor's future guests- I hardly write any Google Reviews, rather I highly depend on them. The Gold Mountain Manor is an extraordinary gem, cabin style getaway. It was an absolute honor to be cared for by Darrin and Amy: The most down to earth, honest, and hospitable hosts you could ask for. At the Manor~ I can honestly say that instantly you are made to feel as though it was home the moment you stepped in. Not an awkward moment with the hosts nor any cabin in the woods horror- but simply a "Welcoming Welcome" (you'll understand the reference when you check in). Our host/owner Darrin was detailed, straightforward, honest, and simply a Great Guy. Our interaction with him felt very human and his honesty was reflected by the openess of his personality. You really can't ask for a better host.
I was looking for a reasonable getaway for Memorial Day Weekend to surprise my lady with. After several failures to find a hotel that wasn't booked or over 1,000 dollars ~ the Gold Mountain Manor had magically crawled within the algorithms of my hotel app, and immediately out of curiosity I placed my reservation. I confess, almost instantly I was sold to the Uniqueness of the name of the Manor itself and the different names of the rooms it offered. My lady and I stayed at the "Bouquet Room." It was everything. It was compatible to our rustic, vintage, and elegant vision. It certainly was a dream and really took "homely" (British Def.) To a whole other level. It was floral, fresh, convenient, and had everything you needed and more to make you feel at home. It was magical in a sense that it stayed true to the hotel website's descriptions and complemented the nature surrounding it. From the decorative pieces and the elegant furnishings, the room was expertly crafted. Everything in the Manor was alluring inside and out, riddled with countless of things to do that made you anxious to do the Gold Mountain Manor right.
Without further a due, the Gold Mountain Manor is an absolute steal for those still considering to book a stay. I went in curious and came out grateful for being part of the Manor's history. Thank you Darrin and Amy for everything~ hope to be back there soon. As much as I want to keep this place as a secret this places deserves every recognition. It truly is a rolemodel to any B&B and a Gem I'll revisit for as long...
Read moreI cannot say enough amazing things about this place and Amy & Darin, my goodness what a gem. My husband found Gold Mountain Manor while searching for places in Big Bear online and I have always been a little wary of B&Bs because there's the "run-down/rickety" stigma that us millennials hold about them, but these guys know how to run a B&B and everything is so comfortable and clean and updated!!! I came up here to get away and have a break from my kids for two nights and just relax(which I rarely get to do, come on mamas, you know what I mean, AMIRIGHT or amiright?!) SOOO yah... I had pretty high expectations and what do you know, I was still totally blown away. The rooms are fantastic, so much of the old original historical character but VERY clean and comfortable. My bed was so sturdy and the mattress was great, very well done. The clawfoot bathtub was incredible, and wood burning fire place in my room, splendid! The breakfast is out of this world, their service and attention to detail was so appreciated, the common areas so comfy, and there's a wood burning stove in every room, so it's just the sweetest thing feeling so cozy! Lots of books, DVDs, puzzles and games, a piano and a guitar! The veranda and front yard are so pretty, well kept and quiet. But the most fantastic thing was Amy & Darin's hospitality, they literally have thought of everything and they are so generous and helpful and not in your face in an annoying way, like they're very attentive and willing to chat if you want, but they actually leave you alone to enjoy yourself, too! They just GET it! Anyone on the fence about this place, DO IT! You...
Read moreThis was our first time staying at a bed and breakfast and our experience was wonderful! Upon walking in you are greeted with an immediate cozy vibe and beautiful furniture and ambiance. The kitchen is small and quaint but has all the essentials; cereal, popcorn, protein bars, cookies, snacks, hot cocoa making ingredients including little marshmallows, coffee, creamer, a milk frother, microwave, and ice machine. Additionally there are mugs and cups for your use.
We stayed in the bouquet room and it was so cozy. The tv gives you the ability to log in to your Netflix, Hulu, etc There are small things that were also appreciated like floss, Q-tips, makeup wipes, Dr. Teals lavender lotion, and bath salt for taking a bath. The provided robes were also very soft. My literally only complaint was that the bed was very firm which I'm not used to but extra pillows helped.
The highlight of the trip was the breakfast provided at 9 a.m. - starting with a delicious yogurt fruit parfait and orange juice and coffee. We had an amazing egg quiche with sausage and potatoes on one morning and the next day we had blueberry Nutella french toast with bacon. It was heaven!
At night, the manor is illuminated by beautiful lights outside. It was a little chilly but we made hot cocoa and sat outside for a bit.
I 100% recommend this place if you need a nice relaxing stay in Big Bear that feels homey. The folks who run the bed and breakfast Darrin, Amy, and Toni were the nicest!!!
We will...
