Let me start by saying I was very reluctant to send my girls (11 & 9) to camp. I had nightmares. My girls both had a super awesome time in the Splash Down camp last week!!!!! When we picked them up Friday, they were singing all the fun songs they learned. They couldn't wait to fill us in on everything they had done.
Some of the things they did: Card/board games Daily riddles by Lollipop (camp counselor) Fun skits Swimming with diving board (water cold) Canoeing Fishing just a few minutes Flag ceremony Dance party (music too loud though) Smores on the last night Saw bats flying by! Slept outside one night! My 9 year old even got bedtime stories every night!
Food was good according to my girls. They had some of these foods: Meatballs & sauce Pancakes Eggs & bacon Chicken Shepherds pie Rice
They are begging to come back next year! My 11 year old wants to stay for 2 weeks! Overall, they loved it and we will be back. A couple things they mentioned they'd change were being able to fish longer. Said it was only a few minutes. Also, they wanted to swim more. Thank you to all the counselors (all fun names) for making their first time away from home the best...
Read moreTerrible service. The supervisors seemed nice when we arrived but once days progressed, they showed their true colors. We had reserved the pool which came with a fee just for the pool to be very dirty. Originally, we paid to be at the pool for hours, once the day came we were only allowed to be in for a hour, leave for 30 minutes and get in for another hour. Not to mention, lifeguards made us do an almost pacer test just to be able to be in the deep end. This took up a lot of time and it was not what we paid for. Unfortunately, we were not able to get a refund. Cabins were dirty when we got here and the supervisors blamed us for the mess even though we didn’t create it. Overall, the supervisor by the name of Sami made it impossible to have...
Read moreI’d like to echo all the positive reviews mentioned prior. I taught art classes that required extra chairs/tables for over 100 people. Once requested, the staff delivered them to the appropriate area. So helpful! I observed how hard the staff work-from cooking 3x a day, accommodating various dietary needs, running the classes, cleaning up, etc. etc., I don’t know how they do it all. Amazing! I had the privilege to visit w/Sami when exiting camp. She was so personable, easy to talk to, & was kind enough to take time to explain some of the hazards of driving down the mountain. Thank you Sami, staff, & Camp Nawakwa for such a positive...
