Brody is an absolute G and deserves kudos for his work. The absolute best unit ranger and first aid teacher. I love everything about this camp, there is not much that needs any revamps or changes. I do think there should be a bit more signs since getting to some places were a bit confusing, but nonetheless I found my way to my classes. The latrines were (of course) not the best, and I am not going to expect them to be top notch 5 star places to do your stuff. They are reliable though, I can say that, and they do attract some flies, which can be dealt with. The commissary has excellent food, nothing was old or bad, everything filled me and my troop up. The lowest meal on the scale was the ham and grilled cheese sandwich, pretty self explanatory. The trading post has an awesome guy named Dave who cracks funny jokes here and there, and he has solid items for sale. Nothing disappointed, other than some of the price points, but hey, its camp. Not going to expect some super amazing cool deals, profit should be there lol. All the staff's energy match up, and it is so cool being at the bowl and watching the skits. The chemistry between the staff are unmatched, compared to other summer camps. I also want to mention the wrangler(s) and the horses. I love Lowie (not sure how to spell his name) and Flapjack, the absolute best horses. Horseback riding was straightforward and there was not much confusion when explained what to do. It is very unique that a mule was there, and that each horse had a different personality. The wrangler, Rachel, was super kind and did her absolute best to fit everything into one week of camp. All the information I needed for the merit badge was right there in a folder, and she was very available. The assistants, along with the Animal Science teacher were very kind as well, when being taught the parts of the saddle and how to put the saddle on, along with some other stuff. I could honestly make a 5 paragraph essay on this camp but I'll cut it short. In conclusion, best camp I have been to, I...
Read moreCamp Tahquitz was amazing! Such a great camp filled with helpful and kind staff who can put the most nervous campers at ease. Our scouts enjoyed every minute of it. They offer a wrangler program which is rare to find along with a warm pool, cool showers, and classic campgrounds. All the food was delicious and our campers loved the variety. They accommodated our dietary needs and it was great to have a hot meal 3 times a day with no cooking or clean up required. This gave us so much more time to pack in fun program activities. Our scouts completed the mile swim, polar plunge, many requirements on the trail to first class and many merit badges: Swimming, Lifesaving, Wilderness Survival, Rifle, Robotics, Horsemanship, and Fingerprinting. They also got to do both a low and high COPE course, shoot shotguns, make a patrol flag, and much more. Such a great community and all volunteer staff that really care and are excited to be there. I highly recommend you...
Read moreExtremely Focused on safety, listening to camper suggestions, and making sure everyone has fun. This was our troops first time at this camp and it was impressive to see the great flow of communication with everyone. Our scouts and others all confirmed enjoying their time with the wide variety of merit badge options and after merit badge activities they had available for the troop to do together. Horses, rowing, heated swimming pool and trades that ALL scout masters enjoyed making. From the bottom to to the top of camp was about 1000 ft elevation gain. Shower in great shape available for male/female adults, boys and girls in great condition. For older scouts not needing merit badges they have a neat program called Thunderbird, where scouts can do activities not requiring merit...
