The Montage hotel in Big Sky is breathtaking. It is all about location, location, location and this is one of the most beautiful spots I have ever seen. If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to live in a 5-star resort inside a Christmas snow globe…this is your dream come true. The view of the snow covered mountains from my room was just unbelievably gorgeous. We stayed right before Christmas and seeing the snow falling, the fireplaces lit and the huge Christmas tree in the lobby all added to the experience. The hotel is located about an hour and a half from the airport, so make sure you book a car service far in advance. We used shuttletobigsky.com and got a private charter in a luxury SUV and it cost around $350. I would highly recommend the driver Tom - he was fantastic. The drive is through stunning mountain scenery, so enjoy the time - it was actually a highlight of my trip. The hotel looks like a Swiss chalet on the outside and the inside is clean and modern. The lobby view is just incredible overlooking the mountains. Since we stayed just after this hotel opened, there were many things not open yet, so I can’t comment on all the cool activities that will be available in the future. We didn’t get to ski on property, so we had to take the free shuttle (a 30 min ride) to ski at Big Sky Resort. We used the pro shop at the hotel every day and I can’t say enough good things about everyone at the pro shop (Compass Sports). They were true professionals, were especially kind and made sure my kids had all the proper ski gear for their first time at ski school. They even made sure the bellman had their skis ready for the shuttle every day and they helped my boys take their ski boots on and off every day. It was a luxury experience and all the equipment is top of the line and brand new. We utilized the kids ski camp at the Big Sky Resort and that was a great experience. At the hotel, we ate at the Bear Restaurant and my kids loved all the game tables and the bowling alley. The pizza was incredible here! We also ate at the lounge near the lobby (I think its called Alpine) and the burger and fries was really delicious. I would love to see more options on the menu here, especially some soups and a lot more appetizer choices. I have to talk about the Wildflower cafe - this was a highlight of the hotel for me. The pastries and desserts were some of the best I have had in my life and I’m a huge foodie. Treat yourself and order coffee and pastries here and you will not be disappointed! The chocolates are INCREDIBLE!! I would love to have some warm lunch options offered here, like panini sandwiches and soups. The rooms are modern, but with very luxurious touches - like the super deep marble soaking tubs, the fireplace and the heated bathroom floors. We ordered room service a few times for breakfasts and dinners and they got the orders right every time! I was especially impressed with the breakfast options - everything was cooked perfectly. The breakfast potatoes were wonderful! Overall, I loved my stay here and my family had a wonderful winter vacation. We can’t wait to...
Read moreThis was our second time staying at The Montage Big Sky, previously Summer 2023, so first in winter! It’s truly a magical paradise and winter wonderland.
The management at Montage BS knows how to do it right. GM Christian at the healm, alongside Joan, are always around the property. They’re engaging, welcoming and checking in - very approachable. Oscar, in charge of Food & Beverage, was wonderful checking in - sharing different fun facts of the hotel, different menu items and favorites of other Montage properties.
Our visit started off with a 10 thanks so much to Dominic who dropped champagne and macaroons as we settled in our room. Plus gave us tips for a European Ski adventure! The process of being fitted at Compass Sports is a dream - so many on staff and it’s the most luxurious experience being prepped and waited on for the slopes. We love how so many of the staff at Montage come from all over the world - their stories are just as much fun as staying at the hotel!
The restaurants are superb. Easy items at Wildflower including homemade pastries and soups - so good! We loved daily breakfast at Cortina while overlooking the mountains. The buffet for $16 for kids is the best deal! Our morning convos with Genius were a kid’s highlight. We had one of the best meals we’ve ever had at Cortina for dinner and as Italians we are picky! The recommendations from Daniel on food and wine were spot on. The parpadelle bolognese - insane!
Driving and getting around is super easy. There are daily shuttles to Big Sky resort and getting a ride into Town Center is never a problem. The drives are scenic and beautiful! We loved getting local tips from our drivers Truman, Andres and D from Brooklyn! Of course there’s the popular suggestions but we loved their off the path suggestions. The kindest drivers and bell staff - thank you Daniel!
The rooms are incredibly beautiful and comfortable. During the holidays are elves also traveled with us and the housekeeping staff were adorable and kind playing along. Nilo and Peta-ka were so wonderful leaving the little elves on our kid’s pillows for turn down. Anything you could need, they check in on. I didn’t want to come home after being so spoiled!
We spend a lot of time at Alpenglow - during the day, enjoying live music in the evening with various local artists or grabbing a quick snack. Again, the staff is amazing - Trevor, Patrick and Ashanti left their marks! Post ski every day our family would enjoy the spa and James was a favorite putting extra cherries in the shirley temples. The evening smores remain a top highlight for the kids!
We are counting down coming back and cannot thank the entire team at the Montage Big Sky for being so kind, generous and making it feel like our true home...
Read moreI heard the resort had some growing pains as it first opened in December 2021 and wasn't even close to completion nor properly staffed. I think they closed down for a bit to get up to speed. As of June 2022 there is still more construction going on outside but the inside is fantastic. We were some of the first ones to experience their Rivalry Room (Golf/Football/Baseball and other games simulator. There is a full bar and food area down there. When we arrived we were greeted with Champagne and Caviar and taken outside to enjoy the view and fire pits. The rooms are very nice (see pics) They all have a fire place and spectacular views. The bowling alley is now open with 4 lanes and a full restaurant down there with for Sports Bar food and pizzas and small assortment of main entrees. They main restaurant had fabulous food (see pics) and little wait time. Great view while eating of the ski area. There is a bar with a huge fire place centrally located and a grab and go food market. The gift shop wasn't well stocked and over priced. The gym had plenty of equipment and exercise bikes outside as well to enjoy the cool mountain air with low humidity. They are still working on the pool area and ski area at bottom of hill. They do have a ski in and out with lifts rights there. The have electric bikes in case you want not have to pedal on the mountain. They run a shuttle to the downtown shopping area. Staff was super outgoing and did everything asked of them for superior service. There is construction of more units which should be finished within a year I guess. They do have guest residences with 4 and 5 bedrooms (see pics). All these residences have high end kitchens and living rooms and they can provide a chef if needed (probably extra charge). I didn't get to experience the spa as my massage was cancelled due...
