We arrived at the property only to find a note informing us that the reservation had 'expired' and we should not try to contact anyone about it but instead look for different accommodation. The host never called or emailed us to confirm that we were coming, instead decided to leave us on the street with an aggressive note. If he ran a 600 room hotel it would maybe make sense, but when you have a 4 room B&B it doesn't take much effort or time to reach out to your guests if you have a doubt on whether they'll be arriving and taking up their reservation. Further, we had been told that we'd be contacted by the property 7 days prior to our arrival with additional check-in instructions, which simply never happened. This extremely unfortunate incident happened during a thunderstorm and on one the busiest holiday weekends of the year so we had to spend 3+ hours calling every possible property within a 50mi radius to find an alternative option. We tried calling the owner of Dreamkatchers too, who of course did not answer the phone although it was 8pm and not "after hours". Directing us to Expedia in his rude note was of course not helpful, nor relevant, since our reservation was not made through Expedia and we had not reviewed any policies on their website.
On top of that, our credit card company and their travel agency intermediary tried calling the owner of Dreamkatchers to mediate our request for a refund for an entire week and he refused to communicate with anyone. Truly the most shameful and inhumane behavior for anyone who wants to claim that they are in the...
Read moreThis is our fourth time at DreamKatchers, Lake Powell and will not be the last! We have been using this lovely home as a base to explore the national parks in the area and the region as a whole. This beautiful home is spotless, charming and full of character. The ‘breakfast’ part of your stay is a true culinary experience! Suffice it to say, you don’t need to eat for the next 12 hours if you don’t want to! This year we managed to get to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, which was everything we hoped for and well worth the visit – even the drive to the destination is through amazing country. We were also able to take a small boat out onto Lake Powell for a day. The tourist boat trips are good but do not compare to the freedom and duration of the trip that a small craft can give you. You can stop along the smaller canyons and if there is a beach, go for a swim. Have a picnic or just stop and let your eyes fill with the wonder of this awe inspiring scenery. Eric & Jarod at DreamKatchers can help you with the booking of the boat and from that moment it is ‘plain sailing’. The offices at the dock are prepared for you and will assist you with everything else you need to know, whether you are an experienced boater or a novice, you will be thrilled with your trip out onto the amazing...
Read moreWe spent a month with two friends touring the USA in early summer 2013. Our stay at Dreamkatchers was the best accommodation by far. The two owners are welcoming, had a great local knowledge and helped us pre-book our Lake Powell boat trip to the mind blowing Rainbow Bridge. The welcome drinks after a long day driving and sightseeing was just one of the brilliant little touches.
The breakfasts were awesome. My wife is a coeliac and has to eat gluten free food. Not only were the breakfasts GF her breakfasts were 5 star GF. The house is well appointed, tastefully decorated, the views are excellent, especially eating breakfast on the terrace at 6.00 a.m. looking across the gardens. The hot tub is a great feature and star gazing was fun, using our Samsung tablet to view and name the stars while drinking a beer.
Highly recommended. The only tiny fault was the 15 mile drive into Page for evening meals, but it was a straight road. If you are out in the Page area, eat early and come back to enjoy a few drinks and take in the desert sunset.
Great place, great people - Lake Powell, Horseshow Bend, Rainbow Bridge, Glen Canyon Dam... one of the best stops on...
