The scenery is beautfiul, the fish were plentiful and my family had a great time for the two nights we stayed there but there were a few very important issues that made me give this campground a 3 rating.

I've read reviews that mentioned flush toilets. There are no flush toilets on site. For over 100 numbered sites, they had one building with two pit toilets (tent camping had another building). It was a slow weekend and it was still not stocked with enough toilet paper. They did have one Porta potty, but it was there from Sat - Mon without being emptied, no toilet paper, and just gross even for a Porta potty. We had a great numbered spot (66) with great views and access to fishing right outside our tent and a table with a cover and BBQ pit right next to us, but the site was littered with trash and cigarette butts. It also looked as though the firepit had been moved to 4 different spots and we had a hard time finding a place for our tent in an otherwise very spacious spot. It was also quite a distance to the only bathroom for the numbered sites. Highway noise. Camping is as far from the highway as you can get and still be next to the lake, and it's not an overwhelming sound. Most nights the frogs, birds and fish splashing near the shore made more noise the cars, but if being out in the middle of nowhere is what you're going for, this isn't the campground for you.

We got asked quite a few times by people who were trying to get a spot about checking in. If you didn't reserve your spot through Reserve America, there is a Kiosk in the day area (next to a map of the lake) to check in.

No hookups. Primitive spots. No showers. We did have a water spicket near our site, but it didn't look like there was a lot of sources for water and we dont know if it was potable water.

We went during off season and it wasn't very busy. I can this place being overwhelmingly busy during the summer. Even on a slow weekend, we had lots of traffic though the campground...

My boys and I spent part of an afternoon here over the (2017) Labor Day weekend to do a little fishing. Afternoons are not exactly the best time to go fishing but we had made other sight seeing plans that morning.||||We arrived about 2:00 PM and found a secluded spot on the north east side of the lake. The western half was completely taken over by weekend campers with their barbecues, jet skis, and boats. My boys got their lines in the water while I setup a beach umbrella (it was about 100 degrees that day) and the beach chairs.||||The place has easy access from Highway 395 making it a popular destination for easy camping and water sports. Jet skis, in particular, were in abundance. We got a couple of nibbles and my elder son hooked a small bluegill (caught and released) but the fish were obviously down deeper due to the heat and noise from the water craft.||||We spent a couple of hours chatting and enjoying the time before packing it in for dinner.||||This is a good family location for easy camping and a good lake for jet skis. There's plenty of parking as well. It's not really for fisherman although I understand there's bass and catfish as well. I doubt...

There is an amazing playground that is a perfect spot to stop and let kids play on long road trips. There was a restroom available near the park area too.

We stopped here with our RV for the night and it was a perfect rest stop for us. We paid $14 at an automated kiosk and visited with a really nice man that worked in the little office before selecting our lake-side camp site. As many reviewers have said, it's a bit older facility but it was perfect for us since our RV is fully self contained. It's a busy place at night with cars and RV's pulling in after midnight. There are A LOT of bugs too, not the kind that bite you...just bug you. We're not really bothered by bugs so it wasn't a big deal for us. Stargazing is amazing here. We were lucky enough to stop during a meteor shower and it was...
